How is Nic not "worth" 11.5M if Jeff Green is about to get 10M?

I don't read Blazers Edge. Does that board source from our board, like this board gets half its material from there? If so, I should go read what thousands of people there say about my posts here.

That place is so over priced. I was a member there when it was originally built by Costco and was known as Sports Nation. That place was the shit. Then they sold out and the new owners jacked the price up for the same damn product.

I was only a kid but I loved when it was Sports Nation. I had to stop being a member at Club Sport after last summer, $75 a month was way too much. I'm now a member at Boom Fitness, which is $10 a month, and I just play basketball at parks.

Another user directed the following towards Batum's girlfriend: "only reason u have followers is cause u [sexual act] the right [male body part]."

That's all you got? I never heard of this here misogynistic, but that ain't it.

Just like MM said, two wrongs don't make a right. Personally I think Nicolas should be getting paid around 7-8 based on his production so far in his career. These sub-max deals should be reserved for guys who put up close to all-star numbers -- guys like LaMarcus in years past who were flirting with an all-star bid. That doesn't mean I'm going to bitch and moan for 4 years if the Blazers match, because I still think that there's a chance Nic might live up to such a deal under the right coach, in the right system, but that's still a whole lot of money based on hope.

Twitter gives people the illusion that someone else gives a shit about their opinions (like this board times a million) and... sometimes people do.

Nic's wife has a public Twitter, and some guy taking shots at her is just part of the game. If she doesn't like it, she doesn't have to be public on Twitter. I'd bet that he's right that she wouldn't have 2000+ followers if she were not married to Batum. I don't see why that matters--either stating that fact or that fact itself.

Racist stuff is a different ballgame, IMO. But it's Twitter. It sucks. :)

Batum's agent is bargaining through the media, and twitter comments like this are going to be common when you do that.

Thats partly how I feel. Criticism is ok, if you put yourself out there for it. Death threats, sexism and racism (etc) is unacceptable. But it's also not exclusive to twitter or fans of sports teams.

As much as the statements were horrible, pathetic and not worth validating in any way, sometimes people have accounts on twitter (or facebook, or if you guys remember the precursor to facebook, myspace) BECAUSE they want attention. Not negative attention, but attention.

I have no idea who she is, never met her, saw her or would be able to point her out in a line up if you forced me to. But if she wasn't who she was, no one would give a rats ass about her (this does not condone the behavior of the "fan"). If she or he didn't want to be a public figure, don't have a public account. I realize that sounds a lot like "if she didn't want to get raped, she would've have dressed so provocatively", but I don't think it's the same.

What I find most amazing is that some tool thought that he could talk shit about a person on twitter, and yet he didn't give his name on his account. If you're going to talk shit, at least be man enough to use your real name (on twitter).

if you're just gonna joke around, sure, it doesn't matter. But the second you act like an ass, be a man. Eat some bran, and leave your kids off at the pool.

Because one got overpaid, doesn;t make it right

At some point, it just becomes the market value, rather then overpriced, if that's the going price (and Batum is much better than Green) for free agents.

It's like saying "I consider anything over $2500 overpriced for a new car." You're welcome to set your own standards for value, but that doesn't mean $30,000 is actually overpriced for a new car.

IMO, what is affecting perception of what constitutes "overpaid" are the two classes of contract that are purposefully artificially suppressed: rookie deals and max deals. Especially max deals. In a purely free market, there's no doubt that top-tier superstars and even solid stars would make significantly more than the max. But those players get capped. While fans then think that every other player salary should scale from there (if a player is a fifth the value of a superstar, he should make a fifth of the max, etc), that's not the way it works. Everyone outside those two classes of contract is subject to something like a free market...so their contracts are going to look strange compared to max level players. Not because they're overpaid, IMO, but because max level players are (by and large) underpaid. I'm not saying max-level players deserve sympathy (or any player, really) since this is all subject to CBA negotiation...but I think fan idea of what constitutes overpaid is out of step with what a lot of these players will actually end up getting paid due to the presence of max deals. If LeBron James and Dwight Howard were making closer to, say, $50 million per year (and the salary cap likewise were set at the level necessary for those kinds of player salaries, Batum at $11 million wouldn't look overpaid.

Wow, Blazer fans. Stay classy. No person deserves such racism and hate. Other @ replies calling Nic the n word to him & His wife. Disgusting>>>>>

Way to generalize the fanbase, fool.

Amazing how one troll has transformed the Portland fanbase into some kind of lynch mob.

J.r. Rider was right

Generalizing is easy, Chirs Haynes did it last night too. I'm surprised this hasn't hit espn yet saying how horrible we all are because one guy was a douche.

I'm just shocked that Haynes had the time when he's busy relaying hotair from Ndiaye and Kahn.

So now WE'RE the victims? Awesome! Now I can tell black people to shut the fuck up because I've felt just as much oppression!

Did I imply that? These two (Haynes/Bia) insinuating that one fan is a racist, blazer "fans" are too. I find that very offensive. They should have directed their opinion at the perp - RipCity88.

What if there's two of them? Then it's Blazer fans, right?

Was it? No, it was a single troll.

So, you've read through all of the tweets received by Batum and his girlfriend, and the only racist and/or misogynistic tweets were sent by one guy? That would be amazing indeed. But I applaud the exhaustiveness of your research.

Has anyone actually looked at that guys twitter? He's either a troll or 12 years old. It's also important to note he seems to be a Beavers fan.

Has anyone identified anything misogynistic in the tweets? Why is the word in this thread title? It means woman-hater.

What a stupid, overused propaganda word. It's like calling anyone who criticizes something Israel does, anti-Semitic.
