I feel like hes another webster, outlaw, rudy, bayless. I know the kid is really young but he seems like one of those guys who will never reach his potential. A guy who will have great games but lots of mediocre ones in the middle. The problem with Batum is, his defense is a bit over rated and he doesn't have consistent offense. Im beginning to think that if a top player is offered for him... cho should grab it. Batum will never be more then a 3rd option at best. Thats the problem with these blazers teams, we always want guys to be something they arent. LA for example. Hes a 2nd option on most teams. Heres he's counted as the first option which he isn't. Batum is viewed as the teams 2nd best player now but i just dont buy that. His game goes up and down. I realize he's young and still has time but feel like it will end up being another guy we could have gotten great value for but waited toooooooo long. I just don't see much improvement from this year to last. I know the batum guys are gonNa start crying after reading this but he isn't getting better. I think if Denver does get Harris.... we should deal Batum for him. I am not on the Batum band wagon anymore.
Sorry but its true.
Mixum, I realize you are not a Blazer fan. I realize you probably start your negative threads intentionally. In fact, I think you do so just for fun to see how people will react to you. I mean, you MUST, because nobody could believe the stuff you do unless the were making it up. Nobody.
But I'm going to humor you.
I'm going to assume you meant your post. For fun, anyway.
Let me start by saying that if you think Batum isn't a pretty good defender, you have proven beyond any shadow of a doubt you have no concept of the game whatsoever. Period. Forever and ever, amen.
As to the rest of your post, Batum isn't a perfect player. He's not the top 50 of all time- which is what you seem to demand of every player or they can't play at all. Why you adopt that stance is beyond me. Now, to be sure Batum has a ways to go. But he gets better bit by bit and given his age when he came to the NBA, the finished product will be plenty good enough. And, yes, there are things I'd like to see him do better in, but part of that is due to what Nate wants him to do on the floor. This, too, may come in time as he plays with different players or different coaches. But his athletic skill set is excellent. His basketball skill set gets better and better. It's a shame we can't carry 15 all stars at a time like you want, but he's plenty good enough. And will continue to be so.
Can he be traded? Sure. But only for the right player. And Harris is far from being that right player.
