Batum is going to be my favorite Blazer

BTW, my youngest is a great judge of talent (future NBA scout). Batum has been her favorite players since the first time she saw him play in the pre-season game against Utah where he more than held his own against Andrei Kirilenko. The best play of the game was when Kirilenko, realizing he had a rookie guarding him, posted up on the low box, spun baseline and had his shot swatted into the 12th row by Batum.

Thanks, but the play I was thinking of was a DIFFERENT block on Kirilenko. Batum had three blocks in that game. The one I was think of was on the right baseline.

If Batum got a more consistent jump shot, he would be a starter in the NBA even if he didn't get any better in anything else.

So yeah, I think he will be the starting sf of the team in the future. I do envision Batum and Martell splitting time at the spot next year, though.

I wonder if Batum's emergence (coupled with the rumored Martell "jump" that I'm hoping for as well) will start Nate thinking about Roy/Webs/Batum or Roy/Batum/Webs in the backcourt this summer.

I have to let everyone know my wife was a Batum fan first. She has been pissed that everytime we go to a game the Blazers Fanshop never has his jersey. Yet they have Raef, Shavlik and Ike.

Actually, you can get a jersey for any player in red, black or white made to order at the games. I don't recall the exact location off the top of my head, but I think it's in the A15 - A16 area. You can walk up before the game and place your order. The jerseys are usually ready by half time - unless they are really busy.

That's how I got my daughter's black 88 Batum jersey back in November - she's worn it to every game since.

Smaller quibble, he turned 20 on December 14, 2008
in the immortal words of Manute Bol... my bad
I wonder if he's grown since then. He would have only been 18 at the time. I know I grew over an inch in height after high school.
How does he look to you compared to other Blazers (and NBA players) that we know the heights of from their pre-drafts? Roy came in at 6'5.25 barefoot, Martell 6'6, Travis 6'7.5, Channing 6'9.5, LA 6'10. Subtracting the standard 1.5" from his 6'7.75 measurement would place him at 6'6.25.

the most likely scenario is that what he measured in 2007 is still accurate because the vast majority of guys have done all their growing by 18. Since players usually go with the shoes on measurement for their public listing, and NB's is 6'8, heres guessing he is what he measured in 2007.

I need to pick up a Batum jersey. Does the main Blazer store at A6-A7 have his jersey yet?

I don't know if he's the SF of the future. It depends on what deals come down the pike. But clearly, KP wants to hang onto him unless something really stellar becomes possible. He's not yet in the untouchable category of Roy, Aldridge and Oden, but like Rudy, probably he's do not touch unless it's for someone fabulous.

I love his defense - he's slowed some of the games best shooters and hard work.

He needs to stop jacking up 3s. Some of them are in rhythm, but too many are just hurled in the general direction of the basket with 15 seconds on the shot clock and a player open.

Don't know if he's the second coming of Pippen, but he could become another Bruce Bowen, defensive stopper who can shoot when needed. Added to the big 3 and Rudy, that's a pretty damn good team.

I think it is very clear he has all the tools to be an exceptional SF in this league - I believe my words about him after seeing him play live for the first time:

Myself said:
- Has all the tools to be the SF of the future. He really impressed me - a lot more efficient and a lot less of a project than I thought he would be. A much better natural defender than either Travis and Webster and not lost on offense as well.

Other than mis-spelling his name - I still stick to this opinion. This kid is going to be something else.

No they don't! That really pisses me off. He is a starter and his jersey is nowhere to be found in the store. I have even complained to my rep. I do see it on their online store and when I am at the store they tell me I can go have the jersey made. I don't want a makeshift Batum jersey. I want the real NBA Batum jersey. I forget to mention the reason is because it is my wife who wants it. She has been a Batum fan since the season started.

Did they mention the have Randolph, Diagu and LaFrentz jerseys for sale. Diagu's is not even on sale.

The ones they make to order are identical to the pre-made ones (neither are an official NBA jersey, though). Back when I bought my daughter's Batum jersey, I also bought pre-made Rudy jerseys for the twins at the same game. The material, numbers and letters are all the same quality.
