Excellent news!!!

I bet he'll play in the NOLA game after we get back from this road trip.

That log jam at the 2/3 is gonna get even more jammed! Brandon being out will def help in that department.

Hey, HCP, take a walk downtown with a bunch of Coakley buttons on!!

I just got back from a walk in the common with my hoodie that read, "This Democrat Could Kick Yo Ass!"

I figured he would want to play 2 on 1, he is French.

Don't tease us like that. He's my youngest daughter's favorite player (by far) - AND we have tickets to the Hornets game next Monday.

Your daughter picked a perfect guy to be a fan of. On the court he's only gonna get better. Off it, he's a cool and down to earth dude. On our way to Boston today, we flew over Manhatten. He came runnin' over by us like a little kid to get a look and have me take a picture for him. He's just a cool guy.

She's liked him since the first time we saw him play in the Utah preseason game before the start of his rookie year. I was bummed because Oden, Roy and Aldridge all sat out that game, but for her it was a chance to discover a new favorite player.

I bought her a custom made (the only kind you could get at the time) youth XS Batum 88 jersey in November of his rookie year and she has worn it to every Blazers game she's been to since. She has an autographed 8x10 of him on her nightstand (a Christmas gift from December 2008). If the Blazers ever trade him it will break her little heart.

The play was physical at times, particularly when Batum found himself defending Pendergraph on the block. During one play, Pendergraph gathered a pass on the block and bulled directly into Batum, knocking him to the ground. Batum skidded three-to-five feet on the court, Pendergraph dunked emphatically and McMillan screamed, “Oooooooohhh” from the front row.

What the...Nate?

In terms of length and height Nic and Jeff are pretty much the same size, and there have been rumblings about playing Nic as a small ball 4 in certain situations, so I don't see the problem. Or were you questioning Nate's enthusiasm over Jeff's posterizing dunk?

Apparently, Nic had to leave a game of 2-on-2 early (with the score only 4-3), while dropping his shoulder and wincing in pain.

According to Nic, the doctors said he would have pain, but (according to Quick during this morning's MSP) Nate is still rather concerned. That said, Nate wants to see Nic participate in a full practice prior to him suiting up/playing in a game.

Therefore, we may not see him play until the Utah game at the earliest.

This is from an o-live article earlier this week:

Batum, who made 37 percent of his three-pointers last season, was nearly automatic while shooting three-pointers before a recent game at the Rose Garden. At one point during his routine, as he attempted shots from various spots around the three-point arc, Batum made more than 20 in a row, wowing the few who watched from the Blazers' bench. One onlooker, Blazers television color commentator Mike Rice, watched in awe.

"Daaaaaang Nicky, you don't miss anymore," Rice screamed.

Williams said he is pleased with Batum's development, but has made it a point to temper expectations.

"We sat down and had a long talk and I said, 'Man, you could have a long career but that shot is gonna cause you some trouble. You want to get a shot that's respectable,'" Williams said. "And he's put the work in. It's good so far, but give me 18,000 (fans) and some stakes on the line, and then we'll see how far he's come."

If that comes even close to translating in in-game situations, man, what an asset he'll be. Until now he's been good enough to spread the floor. If he gets it over .400, yikes.

2 Maybe. 3, not really. We have Martell and Brandon playing out of position. This will be something that hopefully, allows Brandon to take a load off.

I'm glad Monty qualified it by saying that things could change once the bright lights are on him and the juices start flowing. From what I hear Jerryd is automatic from just about anywhere on the court during shooting drills and in practice, but he seems to get so amped up in games and he starts clanking them off the rim -- especially if he doesn't hit his first couple of shots.

Hopefully Nic can start stroking it, but I sort of expect him to struggle after being out of competitive basketball for so many months; it's got to be hard to turn it on after so much time.

I would question why the hell Nate is encouraging such physical practice play with Batum this early in him resuming contact drills. Is the coaching/training staff unfamiliar with the concept of easing people back in? That's one of the most basic tenants of injury prevention... I think I just lost what little confidence I have left in their judgement.

Jeff Pendergraph is 6'10 in shoes, has a 7'1 wingspan and an 8'11 standing reach
Nicolas Batum is 6'7.75 in shoes, has a 7'1 wingspan and an 8'8.75 standing reach

JP also has 20 pounds on NB. I'd call them a size apart. It's good to hear that Nic's back... he's my other favorite
