Thanks for the link. I'm glad to see Nic stepping out like this, and I think it's wise of Nate to use this to push him to come out of his shell a little more.

Charlotte center Joel Przybilla will miss Friday's game against the Blazers and will be "out a while" because of pain in his surgically repaired right knee, Bobcats coach Paul Silas said. Przybilla played seven seasons in Portland before being traded on Feb. 24.

I'm sorry that Joel is having trouble with his knee. However, that trade is looking even better now.

Notice this at the bottom:

Tuesday's Blazers-Miami game drew 681,000 viewers on NBA TV, making it the most viewed regular season game in the history of NBA TV

Everytime I read about Batum's father dying on the court when he was 2, I feel so grateful to have both my parents. It's also nice to see a celebrity start a charity that doesn't involve a family member having the problem.

but seriously.. great find. Very touching

It's good, of course. But I'd also like to see some access to family planning for these women. I mean, did they even have the option of not becoming pregnant?

HCP, you should tell Batum to contact the great finger-wagger himself for assistance/advice. Dre or Camby should know Mutombo well enough to bring a connection, and that sounds right up his alley of charities.

I feel like this is a trick question... Is celibacy not an option? Of course they should have more options, but you asked if they had the option of not becoming pregnant, and they did. Just not the good ones.

Celibacy and Male Contraception as options assume a certain balance of power, specifically the power of women to refuse to have sex with men without fear of violent or societal reprisal. This balance does not exist in most of Africa in any way, shape, or form.

Batum is a basketball player, he wants to help, that's great. Anything over that is just too much to ask from his foundation, honestly.
