He's been pushed back repeatedly, and he's now getting some injects? Maybe I'm missing something, but it seems like nobody here is worried.

Unless it turns into something serious which I definitely wouldn't want happening, I'm actualy happy with the opportunity to try some other players and lineups.

We are playing well without him, for the most part, and winning. Hopefully his injury is nothing more than a contusion, but it is a good idea to give him time to rest.

For now, keep playing Crabbe as a starter and allowing him time to develop.

I have more faith in the Blazers current medical and training staff than I've EVER had in the team's medical and training staffs.

So far they are saying 'contusion'. If it were more serious, I think they'd know it.

Moreover, I'm actually GLAD they are taking it slow, giving Batum time off -- during a home stand -- and getting him 100% before putting him back on the court. All my life I've seen players put back on the court too soon and I've never liked it.

An ancillary benefit is that it gives the team an opportunity to develop Crabbe and other backups -- during a home stand -- which is a good thing.

In the meantime, we're still winning.

It's all good! :)

I'm actually more worried about CJ. For the most part CJ was money from three, and he really needs the court time.

Batum if anything needs as much rest as possible after playing competively year-round for as long as he's been on the team.

I feel terrible for 3J. Thankfully the team has a lot of 2 guard depth.

We can't trade Batum if he can't pass the other team's physical. It's smart to take our time so we can get the best deal possible.

Smart. Maybe we can trade him for Sabonis. ;)

Look it's not like he's going to come back early, jump for a rebound and fracture his patella right? O.o

Batum needs rest; he played a ton over the summer, and has been playing underwhelming ball so far. If Crabby Patty can cover for him and we keep winning, why not let him rest San Antonio style under the guise of a knee injury?

The French team people's. I enjoy being able to win and give Batum rest. We need him ready for the playoffs, not regular season

Exactly!!! Took the words out of my mouth.

If our bench is deep enough, then relax and develop your bench. It will only help come playoffs.

It's just a deep knee bruise which is probably inflamed. Better to rest it until it shrinks to normal size than to damage the meniscus. I think it's better at this stage of the season to let him fully heal than force the issue and this is why you have 15 guys on a roster

I'm sure they are worried. Just because you don't hear anything about the Blazers staff/doctors being worried doesn't mean they aren't. If it's major, Being such a fan favorite like Batum is I'm sure there just trying to keep it on the down low till they can gather more information.

Thanks for all the solid logic, and level-headed thinking!

The injects shouldn't worry you. According to this article:

The procedure, which is relatively easy to perform and has grown in popularity across the professional sports landscape in recent years, reportedly helps the body repair muscle, bone and other tissue, while shortening rehabilitation.

The same article also says it's not just a bone contusion however the important part is in bold:

A source close to Batum said his injury isn't simply a right bone contusion, though the source could not state exactly what the ailment is. That said, there are no concerns about the long-term health of his knee and Batum is on pace to return to the starting lineup Friday, when the Blazers host the Chicago Bulls at the Moda Center.

Not worried at all......my boy is almost getting 2 weeks of rest and we haven't skipped a beat.

I made this point before. He and and LA as cursed as this organization has been through the years have not sustained any major injuries. To me the likelihood that they would is small due to this. Which gives me optimism and comfort especially when came back and said it was a contusion.

He will be fine.

This is the only response that need be read. Not saying other responses aren't good, but this is spot on.

Thanks for the update doctor.

Yes but a team can pass an injured player if they want to. Depends on how bad they want the player. Every team's physical is different. Players that fail for some teams would pass others and vice versa.

Martell Webster passed the test in Minny for one.
