Bayless said he received mixed messages. Roy approached him at the line, and with his jersey over his mouth, told Bayless to miss the shot. Bayless said Andre Miller, on the other hand, told him to make it.

And that's why we lost the game. Ship Miller out. He doesn't understand the pecking order. He shouldn't be telling Jerryd what to do. This must make Roy mad.

At that point, I don't think anyone really cared. Besides, the Blazers couldn't get free throw rebounds even when their guys were closest to the bucket.

man what asses both Roy and Miller are.. Bayless should have listened to me when I said to Make BOTH of them ;)

IMO, some people have made a bigger deal of Bayless' miss than it warrants. Had he made both, it would have only tied the game. At that point, the game may have then gone into overtime. If so, I'm not so sure the Blazers could have sustained an effort to win the game.

yeah people talk like it was a guaranteed win after that.

So it's good that he missed the free throw? We weren't gonna win anyway, so why bother?

Typical shit from KS.
blah /vomit.

The facts are young players listen to vets, and timing is everything. Chances are, he went with what he was told to do by a vet, last. When communicating he probably thought that Roy said to miss it, and then when Miller came up after and told him to hit it, he probably thought that the coaching staff changed their mind and wanted him to hit it instead, he was just doing what he was told to do, and probably didn't even think about who the messeneger was except for that it was one of the veteran players on the team.

Let's face it. It was a bad situation to begin with.

That's not what I meant, and you know it.

As I had mentioned, "some" folks have blown that miss waaay out of proportion. Know-what-i-mean, Vern?

Bayless is an idiot.

What he should have said was:

"I wish I had made that first FT."

If he had made that shot, none of this would have happened. He should no better than to say something to the press that would either cause conflict or push off the real problem to someone else. The real problem was he missed his first FT attempt - period.
