Bayless losing patience?

Epic thread.

I don't care who said what, I don't look at the poster, but just reading the threads it is really amazing how fast our perception of someone can change on here.

Oh well...

Go Blazers! Ducks! Jerryd!

?

I'm not sure what perception has changed, most of the people (in this thread at least) seemed to feel Bayless would be relegated to the bench with little hope of sniffing the court, the only thing that changed that was injuries.

I disagree.

If Bayless was to go back to DNPs, I think people would start to flip out.

Well sure. I'm just saying, I don't think most people perceived him as untalented or undeserving of a role, most people just didn't see him having much of a role with this team due to the logjam ahead of him.

I also disagree with that. I don't want to single anyone out, but I think most people were saying that he isn't good enough to play right now. After 6 or so games, I believe the mood has completely changed in that perspective.

For example, posts -- 5, 8, 9, 13, 19, etc...

I think Vineyard and others had the right idea here. I think the kid should have been playing all year, and many on this forum felt the same way (For example MAS RipCity). I suppose now, with his first consistent playing time of the year, most everyone believes so. And It all happened in a 6 or so game span, which is what i've been referring to. Just how quick things can change (not singling people out).

I thought he played very well last year (for a rookie) when he got consistent minutes (when Blake was out). But I suppose Nate didn't believe so.

Oh well... Not a big deal. Carry on...

my perception hasn't changed. He's basically fulfilling the oft posted hopes that many of us saw in the tea leaves when he'd finally start getting regular PT... heck, example 1A.

The issue with Bayless isn't talent, it's can he blend in rather then being the focus/lead guard playing alongside Brandon? If he can spread the D as a spot up shooter and thrive off the ball picking his spots, his future is very bright in PDX. Last night was awesome, but I'd be even more excited seeing him blending and excelling alongside Roy

Best players play. When Jerryd does what Nate wants, he'll get minutes.

LOL!

The guy only played because over half the team got hurt. NOT because Jerryd was doing "what Nate wanted." Jerryd was capable of a 31/7 game against the Spurs ALL SEASON LONG but if no one got hurt, he wouldn't be playing at all.

Umm Phoenix game? He was excelling next to Roy pretty easily. Bayless was able to contribute by getting easy lay-ups while Roy was still able to get his. Roy also had confidence in Bayless to kick it out to Bayless for the 3 and he delievered. Yeah, yeah small smaple size, blah, blah, but I think that small sample size is telling of how these two can play together: Both starting and finishing the game.

I watched the Phoenix game and preferred it. I could have been clearer about that in the post you quoted, but basically him doing well beside Roy gets me more pumped then him doing well with Roy out as he won't have the ball in his hands nearly as much as he did last night on a consistent basis. I view his ability to blend with Brandon as pretty important and think that his tendency to dominate the ball is the biggest reason why he's been backing up Steve thus far.

I agree 100% you, and while it is good to know that if Roy is injured or is just having an off night we always have another guy in Bayless who can step up if needed and create plays. But this is about Roy and who meshes with him and seeing that Phoenix game was perfect and Roy had all the confidence in the world in the kid with that kick out 3 and one of my favorite plays I didn't even mention, the Bayless cut to the rim with Roy dishing it to him and he converts. It is encouraging that Bayless can play and move without the ball just as effective as he can play with the ball. I sincerely think Bayless is the perfect compliment to Roy and will, if not start the rest of this year or even next year, will finish games, however, I am not the coach or Roy so I don't know what they think of Bayless finishing games.

do you have any concept of space and time? Why dont you look at the date of your quote

how do you function in day to day life?

I think Bayless shot has improved which lets him play more now. I mean he'd get more mins because of the injuries, but the reason he isn't jerk quickly is because he's hitting his jumpers. Kink of like Sergio. Other teams started to collapse on him, but he didn't get a jumpshot to make them pay while Bayless is hitting shots to keep the D honest.

He was capable of a 31/7 game playing Brandon's role. Playing Blake's role? Not so much.
