Right, I think I'm going to go with Blake's number being retired in the rafters for being part of the perennial one and done 2009 -2020 teams. I wouldn't count on it. I have given up on seeing a championship in Portland during my life time.

We would need a miracle in the form of a role player becoming a superstar or us losing so badly that we get a super high draft pick. Back in reality I'm gonna go with welcome to mediocrity and pray for a total Oden recovery and improvement next year.

I just don't see any way for this team to recover and kind of hope we get slaughtered so bad that we get a decent draft pick. We've painted ourselves into a corner with contracts (Roy and Aldridge) and neither of them is going to get us to the 2nd round.

Yep. Right until we built up a bit of a lead, then Blake came back in for a small ball lineup, and the lead promptly disappeared. No matter how well Bayless does, he won't displace Blake. All he can hope for is to pick up minutes vacated by injured guys at other positions.

That is not going to happen. Unless (and why do I feel like I'm whistling through the graveyard saying this?) Roy and/or Lamarcus goes down for the year we will not be a high lottery team. Think about this Idog - Portland may have had the worst match up in last seasons playoffs and they made that a series with virtually no help from Oden (5 Pts/4 Rbs) other than putting a body and burning fouls on Yao. Are they a championship team? No. But they aren't a lottery team either.

This team can recover and be back to serious contender status in a year or 2. You know, you're probably going to have to beat Kobe and/or Lebron right now to win a title anyways . . . good luck with that. Maybe it's just as well that our "window" is pushed back.

I disagree. Portland would have made the 2nd round last year if we had got the patsy playoff schedule Denver got. Even without Oden. They ran over that New Orleans team like a runaway freight train.
 
Bayless + Rudy + Blake = Devin Harris + Ed Najera. Done and Done!

With Harris' injury history, that is pretty scary. But what the hell, I'd do it.
 
i think it takes more to get harris, and no way i trade bayless for robin lopez
 
Man, Jaynes has never liked Bayless. He filled in for Canzano last July right at the conclusion of summer league and he had Wendell Maxey (formerly of Hoopsworld, now of Slam magazine) sit in with him and he basically just flayed Jerryd for an hour. Maybe the rumors are true that he'd like a trade, but I have feeling Dwight would offer to drive him to the airport to get him out of town.
 
His agent had a closed door meeting with KP recently discussing Bayless' role and the possibility of a trade.
 
Start Bayless, or at least give him 20+ mpg. Kid deserves it.

I don't blame him one bit, he plays his azz off and brings the ream back and gets pulled - just WTF is that all about?
 
We should trade Miller and Blake for a good backup PF or C. Then we should start Bayless and let him play 30 a game.

Then just don't sign another PG. Let Roy play backup PG. Or Rudy. I don't care. Make it work.
