Bayless??

So............this series appears to be over and, IMO, point guard play was a major problem for us in the series (among other things). We really needed a third guy with some potent offensive firepowere in this game and it seems like Bayless could be the guy to provide that in the future.

With Sergio clearly not having Nate's confidence, should they start paving the way for Bayless to come off the bench and eventually start next year or do they need a different PG?

I REALLY hope Bayless steps it up next year. We need a guard who can stop penetration, and attack the rim. Someone that plays with aggression, and not so much passivity. Brandon Roy is the only one who attacks the hoop sometimes. We need more aggressive players to light the fire under the rest of the team.

I hope we get a better Vet to start for us, like Andre Miller, then bring Bayless of the bench as our 1st backup next season.

Assuming he doesn't get moved in a draft day trade, I'm anxious to see what he can do in summer league running the point instead of playing off-guard. I really hope he goes to a skills camp during the off-season too.

we need a pg that can drive and pick up fouls on opposing bigs and dish to open players. i hope bayless can do that, but so far all he's shown is that he wants to score himself. i hope he works on his passing this offseason, he can surely get to the hoop easily enough

i agree he should have been playing. this was a completely wasted year as far as good experience goes. next year with higher expectations, it'll be harder for him to get minutes unless he makes a huge improvement in the offseason.

Unfortunately, I think KP, Nate and the crew love Blake and he'll be back in some fashion. It'll be interesting to see how Blake deals with being the primetime starter for us to being a backup if we bring in someone else or hand the reins over to Jerryd.

Well it should be an interesting off-season. We have a good amount of cap space, 100 different ways to handle the PG situation, a total logjam at SF that will have to be addressed with Webster's return, and the whole Oden start/bench decision again. I can't even begin to predict what KP is going to do this summer.

I don't think there's any question this will be the position we target for a move this offseason. Everyone knows and agrees that Blake is not good enough to be a starting point guard for a contender. That said he's certainly a good enough backup.

Buy some team's first round pick this draft, sign and trade Blake plus that pick for Andre Miller, package Outlaw/Martell, Sergio, picks and cash (and more?) and try to work out a trade for somebody like Luol Deng, Gerald Wallace, et al. Or just waive Outlaw and sign Ron Artest with your available cap room (yeah I'm actually being serious about Ron-Ron -- he really seems to think the world of Brandon ) then round out the roster with Joel Freeland, PetKo, and whatever gets you to a thirteen or fourteen man roster.

I'm sure this isn't what will happen, but some variation of the following seems like the kind of roster that leaves you with plenty of depth, but some actual battle tested vets and some toughness.

Miller/Bayless
Roy/Rudy
Artest/Batum
LMA/Freeland
Oden/Joel

If you pass on Artest and the small forward position, then use cap space to get a guy like Brandon Bass or some other 'hustle' type power forward.

KP should keep the critical core together, but it's time to be bold.

Although Outlaw struggled in the series (who didn't) I still wouldn't deal him. He still wins games for us in the regular season. I just think without a legit 3rd scorer starting, we rely too much on Travis.

Yeah, I agree. KP can't keep his love for the players on the team, but instead should try to make this team better. Add some vets who would fit in well, and don't be afraid to let go of some of the young guys for some proven talent.
I'm still not a fan of Andre Miller. He's got a good shooter, but a banger down low should be a priority and adding more experience is what I want.

I think Bayless has incredible potential and just needs time. He is an NBA athlete and and NBA competitor. With opportunity he will be a stud. He can certainly run he point. He has a complete game.
