I believe very strongly in schools being a place of open discussion and idea exploration.

This line caught my eye.

The methodology of my favorite schools was to pump information a you at rate rather like drinking from a fire hose.
Considering how much school costs, it might be best to leave the exploration to off the meter time.

two different types of education for different reasons. A well taught liberal arts school is a wonderful thing for building thinking people in our society, unfortunately it's basically just foundational so a Masters or Doctorate will likely be needed for a good career. However a targeted school towards a specific degree, lets say in Computer Sciences or Cooking is a wonderful thing to get someone situated with a good career in a narrow field.

A traditional BA is very expensive nowadays and not worth it for many people, but invaluable for others. Exploration is important in my mind, but not needed for everyone.
