Hopefully this awakens the sleeping Giant (the Beavers offense). I feel sorry for those 3, that was a can of corn.
Love it!! Haven’t heard that term in a generation! Made me think of an old time broadcaster (or conglomeration of several). Well played (though it’s likely the “kids” on this board will wonder WTF you’re talking about......)!

Personally, I thought this screen cap was even better, as it has the score AFTER the Larnach home run.

It wasn't that easy in my opinion. The guy that had to run the furthest was never called off and he over-ran it.

I have played many years at second base and for the most part that ball should be the 2nd basemans to catch but he got a late jump and was coming way to fast and hard to pick up the ball in the air and the reason he over ran it. The first baseman was actually in a good position and probably had the best opportunity but if the 2nd baseman calls you off then it's on him.

As a former outfielder, I think the right fielder should have called them both off. He had the entire play in front of him. He had the best view of both other fielders and the ball. However, he slowed up and deferred when the second baseman called it. I thought he was too passive. In that situation when I have the best view and best angle, I aggressively call the infielder of the ball. It wouldn't have mattered in this case, as there were two outs, but with less than two outs the outfielder is also in the best position to make a throw after catching the ball.

In any case, I'm glad they fucked it up.

I agree in most cases the right fielder would be first choice and has the right of way and if he feels he can get to it reasonably then he should be calling off the infielders, but from what I recall he wasn't that close and it would have been a difficult catch for him. The second baseman simply over ran the ball.

That's what I thought too.

And, yeah. It was time the Beavers finally got a break.

I expect the Beavers to stomp them today. Fingers crossed the Beavers pitchers have some mustard left in the tank.

If you watch the replay, the ball actually hit the ground about 2 feet in front of the right fielder. He could have easily caught it, but he saw Shaddy going balls to the wall, heard him call for it and slowed up.

I can't figure out how to embed this video, but of you click on this link, it has a pretty good angle on the play:

I was always very aggressive when I played the outfield, any ball I could get to without sliding was mine and I made sure the other fielders knew it. I had a good arm and loved to throw base runners out. Nothing like a running start to get a little extra mustard on the throw. Plus, it's always easier to pick up the ball when it's in front of you than when it's coming over your shoulder.

Any word on who's starting on the mound tonight? I'm assuming it will be Abel, but haven't heard anything official.

It was in a tough spot and I watched the replay several times before I commented above and felt it was questionable for the right fielder. If you notice in the replay the 2nd baseman glances down at the ground when he reaches the foul line for some reason and then continues sprinting to the area where the ball was. I think that glance might have caused him to lose the ball and thus the reason he ran past the ball. All I can say is, I'm glad they didn't make the play.

...Arkansas still looks a bit dejected from last night and now I'm not sure they can prevent Pat Casey's destiny of winning his 900th game and another championship at the same time!

So yesterday when Arkansas was the only one who could win the championship it's on the ESPN, tonight when the Beavers could win the championship ESPN has it on The Ocho.

Arkansas has really gotta be kicking themselves right now..catch a pop foul and its over..crazy game

I would be interested in some kind of documentary on how OSU became a baseball powerhouse. I think it would be interesting.
