Reading recaps of Yao Ming's retirement, his career is referenced against three other NBA players... Bill Walton, Sam Bowie, and.... Greg Oden.

Fuck. My. Life.

Oden was supposed to be a once in his generation immediate impact All Star big man in this league back in 2007. Instead, over 4 years, he has averaged 9 ppg & 7 rpg over only 82 games. It's sad indeed. Yao was better.

Hypothetical question: If you were a 7 foot tall player and went in the top 2 of a draft and the Blazers selected you, what would you do? Skip the NBA and go to Turkey? Force your way out like Eli Manning did to the Chargers? Retire? ... tough call.

Whaaa ... cry me a river. Lucky to even have a team in this depressed city. Pretty crazy our big brother Seattle can't even afford a team. Lock-out will be good for small market teams though, Greg too. I have no doubt he'll come back and beast. In a different era you'all compare this too, G.O. would only be two years out of college

Well, Walton won a championship. And Oden will win a championship. So that's not such bad company.

Funny that not included in that list is another much-injured Blazer center who was Yao's idol growing up.

Your, My, Our Vydas. Stretching this as far as I can...Kelvin Cato was the backup for Yao's first 2 years. Cato had been injured for half of his second (of two) Blazer season(s).
