marco bellinelli to nets???

Sources close to Warriors' guard Marco Belinelli, have informed HOOPSWORLD that Marco may be on his way to the New Jersey Nets.

The source explained that talks were on going between the Warriors and Nets, but that Marco was made aware of the talks and told that a deal could transpire soon.

Sources close to the Nets could not confirm that the Nets were talking trade with anyone.

Belinelli has played in 5 games for the Warriors this season, logging 6 minutes per game on average.

Belinelli was the 18th overall selection in the 2007 NBA Draft by the Golden State Warriors.

Kobi, any insight on Marco? Obviously, his sample size in GS is too small to judge anything by, so I'm looking for info from the Italian League
 
Great pickup if he does come to NJ. Like Carroll, he's mainly a shooter but he's younger and doesn't play the same spot as Simmons or Hayes, giving us even more versatility with the lineup. A lineup of Carter/Belinelli/Hayes/Yi/Lopez could be very dangerous.
 
Hopefully its for Josh Boone... the Boone-Williams connection revived in the Bay Area?
 
well, that would suck for CDR..his time would be cut.
that, and the Nets would win the award for most multi-cultured team.
 
Just saw your post War Poet...the kid averaged 16 ppg in one of the toughest leagues in the world at age 20. That should tell you enough about him. This isn't a Mile Ilic type pickup, based mostly on potential. This kid actually got meaningful minutes in Italy...and did very well.
 
so, let's take a guess.
Ager? Hassell? A pick? What would it take to get Belinelli?
 
salary wise it would be close to the nets 2007 #21 pick.

I loved this kid in the draft and I hoped we would draft him. The only thing that would prevent me from thinking it is Sean getting shipped to GS is that they have a surplus of young PFs there. Plus, Anthony Randolph who they just drafted is essentially Sean Williams.
 
I hope Simmons or Hassell are part of a deal that would send them out.

Harrington + Belinelli for Simmons + Sean?

But then again, if Belinelli is complaining about playing time in Golden State, where is he going to get the minutes with the Nets?

Simmons/Hayes/Hassell

Where is he going to fit in?

He's a good looking player, I think NI nailed the comparison, but this would be a bummer for some of my favorite players on the Nets: 1 would probably get traded, and the other would see his minutes go bye-bye.

We are on the same page here, I will be the first one every day calling for OPIE's firing if they trade Sean for Bellineli atleast if they deal Boone it's understandable but not Sean ! THORN SLAP FRANK IN THE FACE BEFORE YOU THINK OF DEALING SEAN FOR HIM !
 
With Anthony Randolph and Brandan Wright in GS, wouldn't Sean be just a little bit redundant?

But yeah he was just stupid for asking Rod not to pick up his option.
