Claims he had no knowledge of the deflated footballs. On the questions afterwards he was extremely evasive with his repeated response of, "I told you everything I know". and "I have no idea".

...yeah, he's either lying and knows or he really doesn't know what happened.

...At this point we just don't know. The key will be if it can be shown that the Pats somehow tampered with the balls just before during the game. On the other hand, if the balls were under inflated before they were inspected and the Refs did not check them before signing off on them, well, that's on the league and there's not much that can be done other than to restructure how the balls are monitored.

Give me a break. He knows each and every thing that happens around that team. Not that anybody should have expected him to just come clean. Reports today are saying that the NFL was made aware of the Pats ball tactics in November. Tainted season.

This is all going to fall on Goodell who has one more chance to get things right or I believe enough of the other owners are going to look to get rid of him. Clearly he's too close to Kraft and has allowed nonsense to go on within the Patriots organization for far too long. Now the NFL has major egg on its face heading towards their biggest game of the year. I don't see how the Patriots get away from this without severe punishment. Suspension of Belechick for a period next season and loss of draft picks is what should happen. Fines are absolutely useless because it's pocket change to Kraft.

^^^ if it's proven that it was an orchestrated attempt to alter the ball pressure after they were approved by the Refs, yes, Coach B should be suspended for a year and the fines and draft pick forfeits should also be applied. And in fact, Kraft may ultimately be forced to fire Belechick.

...also if it's proven, Brady's golden boy image will be tarnished because I'm sure the assumed tampering would be with his knowledge and approval.

...as far as Goodell, if it is found that the Refs failed to do their due diligence, it will fall on the league and Goodell, who's already had a rough 2014...another dose of bad PR and his head could be on the chopping block..

Latest I hear is if he (BelliDICK) is found guilty that he should also be suspended from coaching the super bowl. Yeah nothing a little ear piece couldn't fix.

...as far as I know, they can't do that...the penalties are already outlined...but it's obvious that some people might want Coach B beheaded.

I'm sure this was Brady's doing but it ultimately falls on the coach. The problem is everyone will deny doing anything so there's little chance of any actual evidence. What is dumb is the balls going back in the teams possession after being inspected by the refs.

...^^^ ahhh, like Barry Bonds.

Exactly. Be consistent. If it walks like a ducks and quacks like a duck… Bonds cheated. I don't need a positive test to tell you that. Belichick cheated. Empirical evidence and the fact that he's done it before tells me so. The odd thing with both is that neither needed to cheat.

That said, I still think Bonds and Clemens should be in the HOF.

I agree with this. For obvious reasons.

...be consistent?...ahhh, I see...Belichick should be sanctioned but Bonds and Clemens should not be.

??? How do you sanction any PED users in hindsight? If there were something reasonable proposed I could agree with it, but those guys are all time greats with HOF credentials. Belichick was caught red-handed with spy gate, paid a fine and the NFL surprisingly destroyed the evidence after its finding. He is in the midst of being caught again. Why would he not be sanctioned in any way? If Bonds, Clemens or any other PED user were caught while it was going on they would be sanctioned, so in that sense it's apples and oranges.

...HOF voters vote based on a player's whole body of work, not just a portion of their career...they both cheated, you said it yourself and you also said "cheating is cheating"... and they are being "sanctioned" by being kept out of the HOF for now...and they should be.
...you don't think there's a "smoking gun" to use your term with respects to Bonds and Clemens?

...and it's not apples and oranges IMO, it seems like a double standard when comparing the two scenarios.

...bern, you also said that Bill is "in the midst of being caught again", but he's not. Not yet. Can we wait to see what the outcome is? It's obvious you don't care for the guy and it's not like I'm a fan of his either. I'm just trying to be objective as the facts emerge.
...I've already said that if it is PROVEN that he had knowledge of this he should be fired...at this point it's a big "if".

Given his history, the following is enough for me. Heck, the severity of what he's done in the past went well under punished (ask the Rams what they think of that super bowl "win").

League sources have confirmed that the footballs were properly inspected and approved by referee Walt Anderson 2 hours and 15 minutes before kickoff, before they were returned to each team.

ESPN Sports Radio 810 in Kansas City reported that the Patriots' footballs were tested at the half, reinflated at that time when they were found to be low, then put back in play for the second half, and then tested again after the game. The report did not reveal the results of the test following the game. All of the balls the Colts used met standards, according to the report.

11 of 12 Pats balls were under inflated at half. 12 of 12 Colts balls remained properly inflated. Did Gronk score and spike 11 balls in the first half?

Big difference is that the gap in integrity between the NFL and MLB is tremendous.

Just because of the bastards arrogance I hope he gets nailed.

Regardless though it falls on the headcoach. Payton was suspended a year for what the DC was doing. You can assume he had to have known but there wasnt proof.

^^^...but neither you nor I are the final decree on this latest Pats scandal, the NFL is. And whatever decision they hand down, well, we'll just have to live with.
...and again, I've said multiple times that if found complicit in this, Belichick should be fired and the Pats should be sanctioned. Whatever the decision, it will be a hot topic for awhile.

...like I said earlier, I'm by no means a Belichick/Brady/Pats fan or apologist ...I'm a life long Raiders fan, hell, I have my own problems.

...yup...I heard someone point that out last night....Olberman I think?

The bottom line is somebody messed with the balls. It has likely been going on for a while. Brady clearly would have to of known about it. His 4pm presser should be a riot.

...^^^oh yeah, I'm sure he knew...hell, he may have been the one who orchestrated it with the equipment guy or whoever. I posted last night that Brad Johnson actually paid someone $7500 to scuff up the 100 new game balls when the Bucs beat the Raiders in the SB.

I would not shed one tear, or even get choked up if Belichek was expelled from the game, with no latter HOF Honor's either. If this is all going to come out in the wash, as Bill-Gate II, then he deserves to be shit canned, Let him coach a Community College-Non-Sanctioned....

I can't shake the feeling that little to nothing comes out of this.

Same here Rick, good point, and I too doubt the NFL will do so much as slap his hands, wait, that's against NFL policy too...!
