What I still don’t understand is why we would trade Dame to Philly if we are going to trade him.
Let’s say Philly’s plan goes as they hope:
- We get off to a horrible start and continue our bad preseason play
- We find ourselves like 10th in the west come January
- Everyone is pointing fingers and Dame grows distant from the team. He’s going through the motions. He finally signals to the org (probably not publicly): get me out of here.
Why, even if all this happens, would we take the Sixers package? I suspect Neil would refuse out of spite knowing what they did this summer.
And if we trade Dame, we’re blowing it up. We wouldn’t want Simmons, we’d want blue chip players 22 and under + 3ish picks.
The only way this happens for Philly is that Dame asks out AND he wants to go to Philly AND Philly finds a third team that wants Ben and can give us blue chip players and unprotected picks.
Seems unlikely.
