I thought Embiid was taller...

from a risk standpoint, what do WE have to lose (especially if all we give up CJ + some combo of picks)? We're a middling playoff team that has a finite 2nd round ceiling if things break right.

If Ben shows up here unmotivated and we lose, are we really in that much worse of a situation than we're in now? But if he shows up fully engaged and transforms our defense and addresses our weakness, we will be somewhat closer to contending than we are in status quo.

The risk/reward in the a potential Simmons trade still makes it a no-brainer for me, even given his prima-donna behavior.
It would be good if he agreed to come here.
If he’s not happy about a trade here he will force another trade. Perhaps Dame could inspire him like does so many others.?

He enters the facility and ignores most 76ers staffers. For instance, when the 76ers’ security official greeted Simmons on Sunday, the three-time All-Star just walked right by him. When others greet him, Simmons typically has given no response.

Yeah, keep this dipshit away from Portland. I’m ok with bad boys. This isn’t a bad boy. This is a baby.

This is not acceptable behavior. Sounds a little suspect though.

Thats what im saying. But some people in here think otherwise.

It sounds bad, his trade value should actually be down.

Philly should have traded him by now, it’s just looking worse for both parties.

He is not THAT good… To where it’s like “well it’s Ben Simmons so that’s okay”.

Now he’s just a risk in my opinion.

I wouldn’t trade CJ for him at this point.

Man actually picture Simmons in there sitting down while everyone is working out and doing drills. Refusing to participate with his team mates, and then getting kicked out of the practice facility.

Cause that’s what went down, and that’s a horrible look.

Imagine if he just sits the whole season and nobody wants to trade for him.

hes doing everything in his power to get traded

usually id be totally against what hes doing, but in this case, franchise, doc, embiid & fans werent fair to him and i believe a real one would stay and try to get philly to support him again, but i certainly understand his point of view

I would still trade CJ and picks for the guy. He's an all nba player. He's one of the best defenders in the league. He is the perfect second ball handler/facilitator to play with Dame. He's a freak athletically and he's huge.

The guy is having a bad time and he's handling it poorly but his team has handled him about as poorly as possible as well. People have rocky times, that doesn't mean you write them off. I want Simmons on this team with Dame's leadership and Chauncey's coaching. He will transform our defense and help get Chauncey's offense rolling with his passing abilities and great movement.

I need to go check again on what Doc and Joel said after their playoff series. I don’t remember what was so horrific to cause all this.

That’s what some said about Kawhi in 2018. Raptors trade for him and are instant champions.

100,000,000% agree.

Willing to bet that whoever Simmons plays for next is going to get a guy that will play real hard to prove all wrong. I would be happy to see him prove people wrong in Blazers uniform.

Me too! CJ , 3 unprotected, 3 swaps: do it. Simmons is that good and still has upside.

I can't remember the exact wording, but at the time it felt like they blamed the loss on him. Threw him under the bus.

I recall Doc being asked a question and he said “I don’t know”. Maybe it was can Ben be the PG of a champion? And Joel made a comment about passing up a dunk. A dunk by 6’10 Ben vs Trae Young

People in here act like they have every piece of information that has gone into this broken relationship between Simmons and the team. We don't know how hard Doc has been on him in games and in practice. We can assume that he's had to hear a lot of offensive shit out of Embiid's mouth. We know one of if not his main issue is that he feels he's being misused. The fact is we just don't know how good or bad it's been for Simmons.

We know that neither Doc or Embiid were supporting him at the end of the season and that can't do anything but damage. We know that for the second straight off season the team was trying to move him but didn't like the offers they were getting. We know that Simmons no longer wants to be there.

I just switched jobs in May. I gave my two week notice and worked like a dog those last two weeks with 13 hr days to complete a project that had a deadline upcoming. I did it to maintain my professional relationship and not burn bridges.

My supervisor's reaction was of complete indifference. While my colleagues appreciated the work I did, at the end of the day, I was simply a number to the organization and my feeling of myself being hard to replace was misguided.

Welcome to corporate America.
Be careful talking about corporate America around here. Some people that haven't experienced it refuse to believe it doesn't make any logical sense more often than not.

People have short memories that is exactly correct.

SO MUCH this....and that.

For those of you who don't want Ben here I just have to wonder why. He's not going to be the PG. He's going to be our secondary ball handler and we're going to tell him to score as many buckets as he can get in the restricted area. Oh and then we're going to ask him to do what he loves to do and play world class defense. The dude would be so relieved to get away from Embiid and get to play with a dude that will treat him like Dame would that he'd be chill. He's been chill with Embiid's bullshit for four fucking years.

The Sixers are making this difficult. They should trade his ass and Neil should meet them half way and give them CJ and a pick or two and whatever swaps they want.

We get to be one of the best defenses in the league. We still get to have a great secondary ball handler who actually likes to move the ball. We still get to have a ton of shooting on the court. We become a better team... so it's worth the draft capital especially if us being better keeps Dame here and him and Ben can become a more versatile Stockton and Malone.

If it doesn't keep Dame here then we're starting the rebuild with Simmons in place and adding to him what we get for Dame instead of this crazy idea of getting Simmons for Dame.

If he did it to one team, he will do it to the next team. If he blames everybody else for his problems then he won't suddenly start being responsible. This was his (last?) chance to prove he is an honest man. Either quit and give up the money, or put in an honest effort to earn it. He is just a spoiled, entitled little shit who want it both ways, doesn't care about anybody else, and apparently has zero conscience.

I find this kinda thinking ridiculous.

1. they have been trying to trade him since last fall.
2. he asked out in June.
3. morey isn't negotiating in good faith (by all accounts).
4. they have been withholding his salary due to his absence.
5. they only want him to come back and practice/play this season to increase his trade value.
6. they will still trade him no matter what when they get the value they're seeking.

What incentive is there to show up and be engaged when the conclusion of all this still ends up being his eventual departure? Does it really matter that he participate in defensive slide drills, when the moment Morey gets his asking price, Ben's bags will be packed?

Maybe it's the millennial in me that espouses this thought process-- but if my employer just wants to get rid of me the moment they get my replacement, why should i show up and help them?

Because if you or I don't show up for work, we don't expect to get paid! And BTW, the team only "wants to get rid" of him because HE demanded it.
