After the loss everyone seemed bummed out, but Roy: "This went from a great trip, to 'Cool, we'll take it; we split,"'. Sounds like a guy that doesn't even give a shit and is waiting to collect his next massive paycheck. Not only that but he makes LA WORSE, fact. The sooner we bench him the sooner we'll see success consistently, fact.

careful posting something like this, you don't want to get banned! :ohno:

I thought Roy hurt us in the Atlanta game. We ran too many iso plays for him and he hobbled up and down the court. I'm appreciative of his first few years, but this is a business and he's slowing down the second unit.

So ban me.

I thought he was coming off the bench?

Stupid thread. I'd rather have a MIXUM thread that actually isn't stupid, and is worthy of a legitimate response.

Obviously you thought this was worth a response, since you responded and all. Nice try, though.

Doesn't give a shit? What he said was dead on. It went from possibly amazing to about what we hoped for when it started. Isn't that how WE all felt before the trip? 2-2? He's staying level headed. Keeping it in perspective. Like the playoffs. If you get the first two on the road, it'd be great, but if you at least get a split, you have to be pretty happy.

He won the game against Denver for us. It was the only game tying (at end of reg) or game winning shot that anyone on the team has hit all season. Aldridge has been so so in the clutch with or without Roy. We should've gone to Roy at end of Charlotte game. Roy was huge in Miami. Roy is a fantastic luxury to have coming off your bench. We will need him in the playoffs.

I responded to point out how stupid this thread was, and I'm replying to you to reinforce how stupid this thread is, IMO.

9 posts in this stupid thread, and only 4/9 of the posts in this thread actually deal with the stupid topic of it.

Roy has elevated his PER to over 15 in a bench role. If anybody should be benched, it's Less Matthews, who continues to get torched on defense, and is one-dimensional on offense, as in he is basically a 3-point shooter right now who can't distribute the ball.

I'm fine with Roy starting (with reduced minutes), and I don't see anything wrong with his comments. The way I read it, he was kind of bemoaning the same thing many of us were: there was some fantastic road trip potential after the first two games, and it fell apart. We are still no better or worse off, numerically, than if we'd beaten Orlando and Charlotte and lost to Atlanta and Miami. Also, FWIW, the season is not yet over. (As a matter of fact, this next game is the FIRST GAME OF THE REST OF THE SEASON!)

I'm fine with how Roy is playing, what i'm not fine with is how McMillan is using him. Roy has shown he can still create for others and doesn't need to play ISO or have ISO plays run for him and he can still score. The problem is that when we NEED a bucket and Roy is in the game it goes into Roy ISO instead of trying to get LMA involved. I would rather have Roy bring it up give the ball to LMA then move around without it and have LMA either go to the paint and score or kick it out to Roy.

We're figuring out how to fit in all these guys (Roy, Camby, Wallace) at once. I expect some struggles for a few weeks. I'm hoping it's all figured out by playoff time.

This.

I didn't expect Portland to win 2 games on this trip so I am happy with the result.
Going .500 on a trip that includes Atlanta, Orlando and Miami is just fine.

Which level-headed poster hacked into KingSpeeds account? :devilwink:

Me too, but I'm also hoping that we can GET there. We all know it's not guaranteed. Does anybody really have any idea how the final 16 games will go? The schedule is ridiculously tough. Dallas twice, Lakers twice, Okl City twice, @ SA, @ NO, @ Golden State. There are two gimmes, Cleveland & Washington at home. There is one sorta gimme, GS at home. The other 13 games look brutal. That said, the team showed us in Miami (in a game Miami played well, and look what they've done since) they can play with anybody when they are focused and on the same page. They can also get blown out of the arena on any given night. It's been Jekyll and Hyde since the trade for Wallace and Roy/Camby coming back. I wouldn't be surprised if they pull it all together and go something like 10-6, or even 12-4 (way best case). On the other hand, I wouldn't be shocked if they went 4-12 and finished the season 41-41 and out of the post season. I just can't get a beat on these guys.

It amazes me that anyone would think Roy doesn't give a shit. I mean didn't he already try and come back a couple months after surgery? How many other players you know that tried to play the same season they had two knee surgeries? I can't think of one. Hey you can talk about his poor play, lack of athleticism or just not ever going to play like we are used to; but saying he doesn't give a shit is a ignorant statement. Shows true lack of smarts and proves your comment is strictly myopic.

I will shut it about Roy for now. Dude is flat out proving me wrong.

Blazernation

Where kneejerk happens.

I like the benched Roy. Saves him for the fourth quarter. If he's rolling, coach can leave him in. Great game tonight. He doesn't necessarily have to make as many plays as he did tonight, but he does have to do it consistently.

I wonder if he is ever going to crack the starting lineup again either this year or ever again while he is on the team.

I think his performance tonight basically solidified him as our savior off the bench; he kept the team afloat while LMA rested, and took over when he ran out of gas in the 4th. That was key to our win. And if you start Roy only to have him on the court while LMA gets established, you're basically wasting Roy's time. By bringing him off the bench, he warms up a bit in the late first, then take over in the second and third, rest some, then help out big time in the fourth.

I think it's an efficient use of Roy's skills within his limitations.

I really liked at the end when both of them were on the floor, their pick and roll was hard to defend.

Yeah, because both demanded a double-team, but jeez, who do you double? If you hesitate, Roy takes you to the hole, and if you smother him, LMA is there with the pick and pop.

Agreed. You've got my vote for HCOF.

If Roy plays out his Blazers career as the new Manu Ginobili, that will be okay. It's not what I hoped for, with his talent...but it's still a pretty good result after so much damage to his knees.
