fairer brackets that eliminate the marriage penalty and the AMT while providing the lowest tax rate since before World War II:

What a statement! During WWII the tax was out right confiscation. A more accurate description of his tax is, the highest taxes since the inception of the income tax, except for WWII.
Most people immigrating to this country from Europe did so to get away from Europe and it's stifling society. I know my grandfather did, and I can still remember him discussing the ills of the income tax with my uncles. He sent off $26 the first year he paid the Federal income tax, he was completely pissed about sending nearly two thirds of his earning to the government during WWII.
He said, he knew it would come to this in no time, there will be no end to the reasons they take more of your money.

Then we have the modern Democrat, wants to bring Europe to the USA! WTF??

If you saw my facebook... you'd feel the same.

I'm so tired of seeing this "OMG vote Bernie! FREE college!" sensationalist bullshit... I said it before too, you can't say ANYTHING negative about the old Cuckold without people going full Mags on you.

I really doubt I would.

Sure there are lots of people that just hear "free college" and decide they love Sanders, but there are tons of us who have done a good amount of reading/research and still support him and his ideas. Countering posts with no substance (that I don't doubt you see on facebook) with more posts with no substance doesn't do anything. Maybe I'm giving people too much credit, but I think most people understand that free college and Healthcare might mean more taxes. Lots of us just think that everyone deserves free college and Healthcare, regardless of how much it costs.

You're suggesting we give away $40,000 to $125,000 (on average) to people for nothing. That's the average cost of 4 years of college, public and private.

smh

Can I have some "free" money, too?

The national debt is outrageous at ~$18trillion. That's only $58,000 per person.

You can have free education.

I'd rather spend it on blow and hookers.

It's not "free," it's enormously expensive.
I saw the other day that (some) native Americans get given $20,000 when they graduate high school or something. They can spend it on whatever they want. Maybe you should look into graduating high school as a native American.

Native Americans are 1% of the students. You're talking about >100%. After all, for $125K free money, more people will be there for the handout.

You mean more people will be there for their education without crippling debt to accompany it.

You know what a good compromise would be to this whole situation? More government sponsored scholarships for degrees that will push our nation forward. If you want to go to school for some bullshit like arts and women's studies, then pay your own way... It shouldn't be the tax payers burden to put you through school so you can paint and complain about being oppressed all day.

OR if you drop out/fail classes your government funding is gone and have to pay for either the rest of your term or for the classes you failed.

I mean there will be more crippling debt because someone has to pay for it all. The money doesn't grow on trees.

BERNIE SANDERS WILL TRY TO EXPLAIN SOCIALISM BY DESCRIBING IT AS ANYTHING OTHER THAN SOCIALISM
Bernie Sanders wants you to be certain that this time socialism will work.

The Vermont crackpot and crusty statist announced on Sunday that he’ll soon be delivering a speech that will explain his vision of democratic socialism.

For @SlyPokerDog
Incidentally, the phrase “democratic socialism” is a contradiction in terms. Countries with centrally planned economies don’t allow people to decide on how resources will be allocated democratically. Everything is coerced because the state determines what’s best, not the people.

Also: The state sucks at determining what’s best.

Sanders the Socialist
At a campaign stop in Iowa, Sanders offered up the following: “I think there are a lot of people who, when they hear the word ‘socialist,’ get very, very nervous.”

That’s understandable, since socialism killed tens of millions of people in the 20th century. But please go on.

“What we’re probably going to do to begin with is hold a major speech in the not-too-distant future to define exactly what I mean by democratic socialism,” he said.

What he’s going to do is obvious. He’s going to disregard the failures and human rights abuses of Cuba, Venezuela, the Soviet Union, North Korea, et. al. and boldly state that hisflavor of socialism is that one that you’re looking for.

It’s not.

A Failed Promise
All socialist states start off with a promise to feed the people, to support all workers, and to distribute scarce resources fairly and equitably.

They end with misery, poverty, and death.

Sanders will emphasize the eternally unfulfilled promises of socialism and gloss over its countless horrors. He’s going to try to make a century’s worth of economic and cultural depravity look a great alternative by throwing out a few words of false hope.

He’ll put a pickle on a crap sandwich. He’ll place an air freshener atop a septic tank. He’ll put a bowtie on a pig’s tail.

The Wrong Appeal
Sanders will also make an appeal to people’s baser instincts. In this case, envy.

Case in point, Sanders said this on Sunday: “To me, democratic socialism means democracy. It means creating a government that represents all of us, not just the wealthiest people in the country.”

And there it is. Class envy.

That should be a sign that socialism sucks right there. When he has to sell it by putting Americans against each other and dividing people based on income level and net worth, then you should realize that there’s something wrong up front.

Fortunately, you have decades of history to further make the case that socialism is an economic turd biscuit.

Yeah, I am out of school, have an IT career for the last 17 years and am doing pretty damn well. I don't need to pay "my fair share" for some freeloading son of a bitch kid(s) / adults. My hard earned money is mine, and not to be redistributed for 'social' programs.

If you Bernie supporters want to give support to 'social programs' then just donate your own money and leave the rest of us alone please. :)

FYI - currently I pay ~700 a week in payroll taxes (may not be a lot to some but to me it hurts). No' mo' pls.

Really? And why do you think I should pick up this tab?

But seriously, you say, you think! Then how can you post a line that clearly shows, you don't?

And people whine on and on about corporations not paying taxes, your employment is a Tax! And your paying taxes! Jobs have always, and will always be the answer.

Apparently I (and many of you) work so others don't have to... :-( /barf

More government sponsored scholarships

Sorry Duck, but government spending on education is the problem. The more they put in the higher the cost rises. Get the government out and let them compete for those that want to spend money on their product. Everyone does not need it. Hell, it is a waste for most now.

College has already been wasted by countless people with BS degrees (no not bachelors of science), and now they want them for free? Sheesh.

If we should pay money for our rights to health care and education, what about paying a fee for our privilege to speak (formerly our freedom of speech)?

Each time someone exercises his privilege to speak on this board, his credit card should be debited $5 and transmitted to the message board. $3 of that would go to the owner, $1 to the power-hungry Numero Uno moderator, and $1 to the Board Treasurer so I can keep records and enforce rules.

That's a good one. I remember when I failed out of college at 22 after having a 3.8 my first three years. Depression/poverty and its causes are oppressive in themselves, please shackle on top of that more weight. Encumber me to all end. Please, out of the goodness of your heart, pile it on.

How about those who want free college join the army and get the GI Bill money?

Too bad if they actually have to give something back.

Give what exactly? I think a good argument could be put forth that their cost(military) is astronomical to their value. So paying someone to do something with a net value of 0 or less than zero, is not comparable to giving people free money for doing nothing?

Why don't you have a right to a lamborghini?

Performing public service in exchange for public money is that hard to grasp?

I'd rather they invest more in research and hire more people.

When unemployment is low, the demand for even unskilled workers goes way up. Burger King was paying $15+/hr in the Clinton bubble years.

It makes no sense to stifle employment with anticapitalist and crushing policies.

You gotta be kidding me.... Link or it didn't happen...

http://www.crainsnewyork.com/articl...9914/perfect-storm-led-to-fast-food-wage-hike

The story of the economic recovery that began seven years ago is that it has been accompanied nationally by virtually no increase in real (inflation-adjusted) wages. Pay is rising in New York City, but nowhere near as quickly as it should, given the city’s record job growth and the now record number of people in the labor force. This is in sharp contrast to the economic booms of the 1990s and 2000, when fast-food restaurants were compelled to offer pay much higher than the national rate. Crain’s stories from both eras detail the competition to attract workers.
