Karine Jean-Pierre Announces She’s Leaving the Democratic Party in New Book Promising Look Into ‘Broken White House’


Karine Jean-Pierre, who served as White House press secretary in the back half of the Biden administration, has left the Democratic Party.

On Wednesday, Jean-Pierre revealed that she is the author of a book — Independent: A Look Inside a Broken White House, Outside the Party Lines — set to be released this October.

“Until January 20, I was responsible for speaking on behalf of the President of the United States,” said Jean-Pierre in a statement. “At noon on that day, I became a private citizen who, like all Americans and many of our allies around the world, had to contend with what was to come next for our country. I determined that the danger we face as a country requires freeing ourselves of boxes. We need to be willing to exercise the ability to think creatively and plan strategically.”

Republican party went through a reckoning after January 6. They decided to be entirely the party of Trump. They exist to do his will. Anyone who disagreed could shut up (McConnell), convert (Rubio) or leave (Cheney).

I totally agree Democrats have not been fighting but a fight for working class is never led from above. The Democratic party will be dragged along (or submit to Trump).

All due respect for Ms. Jean-Pierre but I wonder about people who discover principles when they have a book to sell.

Bernie and AOC raised a lot of money when they went on that tour recently. Bernie has announced he's going to use to help progressive candidates. The DNC is saying they should get the money to use it for candidates they feel can win. We just went through a Presidential election where the DNC gave more of a voice to Liz fucking Cheney then they did to AOC and Bernie. If people feel the DNC is out of touch with their progressive beliefs, then yes, they should register as Independents.

There are polls out there showing that the Democrats, as a party, are polling lower than Trump, and his numbers are low.

The No Kings rally this June 14th, that you're going to, isn't something the DNC is organizing; it was started on Reddit. Dragging along a party that seriously can not afford to lose again for the sake of our Democracy seems pretty dumb. And if we don't drag hard enough, a party leadership bloated with old people, is going to blame their members.

When Harris became nominee there was a huge surge of energy and enthusiasm but after convention things changed. Consultants took over. No big rallies. Reduced media. Avoid interviews where Harris might make a mistake, she was a prosecutor, FFS, she can handle someone adversarial. Don't interact with the working people with whom Walz connected so well. Tamp down personality. Problem wasn't message or messenger but management. Stay out of trenches, don't get your hands dirty. People who were dissatisfied thought Trump was a fighter, he is not. Harris was ten times the fighter but was packaged as nice lady. Fuck nice lady.
