My ex-Vietnam buddy used to tell us about the quaint small towns that were between the town we lived (Morillton) and the town we worked in (Conway). One of those small towns was the "black" town. I liked most of my students in Arkansas. Probably more than my students at USC, which is where I was coming from. But the place has a creepy vibe. I could never stop thinking of that Richard Pryor stand up thing where he talked about being in the woods and hearing "Yee-hah!" and his blood freezing.

The Ozarks are beautiful, though, and Fayetteville is a cute little college town in a gorgeous setting.
