Norton that came with my lappy is about to end, and they are wanting like $80 for a year... eff that.

Any recommendations on anti virus programs you use? preferably one that is running all the time and scans downloads, vs one that doesnt catch anything until you run a scan.

Gracias!

Microsoft Security Essentials and Malewarebytes is a pretty good combo to me.

I remember Malwarebytes which seemed pretty decent. But I only ever used the free version so it didnt have real time protection. I assume thats what the pay for one does?

Never heard of MS Security Essentials

No, $25 would get you the free version. I would throw in the free version of Security Essentials also.

Sorry I'm drugged up. I has confused with that last post lol

For $25 I will give you the free versions of Malwarebytes and Microsoft Security Essentials. You were paying $80 to Norton so this would be less.

you kids and your lingo haha. Arent the "free' versions just ones I can get that do less from their site? Or does "Free" mean something different when talking about anti virus programs?

Give me $30 and I will tell you.

I use MSE as well, it's free, and works as well as those you pay for. I've found Norton and McAfee to be buggy. I think GoogleChrome's sandboxing technology also works. I got a few viruses through IE and haven't had one since switching to Chrome. Also, disable the Java plugin unless you really need it for a certain site.

Does your ISP offer a free antivirus program? Comcast offer Norton for free. I use MSE and Malwarebytes.

Wheels, make sure you go to Norton's website and get their uninstall program. Just using uninstall on your computer won't remove everything. Norton is almost worse than a virus, it gets into everything.

This.

Wheels, I can get you both Microsoft Security Essentials and Malewarebytes for $25 a year.

Wheels, I can get you the same for $20, and I'll throw in a Norton uninstallation, plus if you act in the next 10 minutes, a free pair of Gingsu steak knives. That's a $120 value.

downloaded MSE Gracias!!!

not that I'm aware of. Thanks for thought though!

Rep for everyone except Denny! ;)

Daily exercise, lots of water and fresh air, and unprocessed foods.

My first thought, honestly, was Salk vaccine. Then I realized we were talking about two different kinds of virus.

This is what I use as well. Seems to work very well for me and my idiot kids who like to click anything. I don't do porn though, so not sure if it works with that.

thanks for the tips people! Microsoft seems to fit my hope of real time protection. so glad I spent $25 for the free version. Thanks Sly!!!
