Best rapper in the game right now?

Without a doubt, Nas.

Any of ya'll heard the new Nas tribute song by KRS-ONE?

This thread is disappointing. I would have imagined better influences. Here's my top ten:

1.) MF Doom
2.) D?lek
3.) Ghostface Killah
4.) Del Tha Funkee Homosapien
5.) El-P
6.) Saul Williams
7.) K-Os
8.) Common
9.) Talib Kweli
10.) Aesop Rock

I used to be huge into Saul Williams, but then the guy started advocating an All-Black America and really crazy **** like that. I'm not racist (I'm white but my grandmama is black and my mom's a card-carrying Native American, so no one pull the race card), but that **** is just ridiculous. It really changed the way I interpretted his lyrics.

By the way, wtf is wrong with Bone Thugs?

I like BTNH, but i guess alot of people say their songs all sound the same.

I love Bone Thugs-N-Harmony. The way they spit is awesome, and the beats are top notch. They can make an anti-cop song (No Surrender), a tribute song to Eazy-E who discovered and signed them (Crossroads), and they can rap about how it goes down in their city/hood (East 1999). Overall, I'm down for listening to Bone Thugs anytime.

Yeah, but why do so many people hate them?

A lot of rappers are a hate em or love em type thing.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Any of ya'll heard the new Nas tribute song by KRS-ONE?</div>

yeah it's dope

Saul Williams = a good poet, but not someone who I want to listen to over a beat

Bone Thugs = great over a decade ago, I used to be a Bone fanatic growing up, but now they're just not that good.

Yea if we're talking about the best right now, Bone Thugz shouldn't even be mentioned.

I listened to Amethyst Rock Star and, for me, Saul Williams is kind of hit or miss. I usually don't like the spoken word type of rap, but he's not that bad. Some songs are great (Penny for a Thought, Coded Language), while some are just so unfocused and random (Fearless).

Tech N9ne is absolutely great imo.

His album "Absolute Power" is pretty sick.

I mean, I like it. It's all about taste.

I can't believe that people actually think Chamillionaire is actually a good rapper he sounds like he's moaning when he raps. Fair enough I haven't listened to his album properly but what is he really saying, has he got anything on Nas, GFK or Common, no.

Thank you for that

Though I would add some others to that list:

GZA, Killah Priest, more WU, Mos Def, Lupe Fiasco more can't think of right now

Mos and Talib haven't put out anything as good as since Blackstar, Reflection Eternal and Black on Both sides, they still good though

Well then obviously you're not in a position to judge.

I don't need you to give a rating. I was just stating that it's ignorant to judge someone without listening to them properly. For example, that's like watching a basketball player play two games and then judging their ability. You simply cannot do that as your judgement is based on a small sample. It's just like judging a person on what you have heard about them. Would you listen to Method Man's "Tical 0: The Prequel" and then have the ability to say he sucks as a rapper?

Ok I recognise this pardon me, maybe someone can give me specific reasons or albums to listen to by chamillionaire then I can come to a judgement that Chamillionaire is or is not the "best rapper in the game right now". Then perhaps you will be happy because I will no longer make ignorant comments.

I gotta say that the best MC's in the game right now are (it's only my opinion):

1. Tech N9ne
2. Nasir Jones
3. Papoose
4. Jedi Mind Tricks
5. Cunnynlinguists.

I still don't think you understand. The post was not about "Chamillionaire being the best." The post was about ignorance and how you can't make a fair judgement without listening to someone. I could care less if you think he is good or not. The thing that annoyed me is that you made a judgement without having a fair listen. It could be about Lil Wayne for all I care.

ok G,

I believe I understand and that you perhaps misread my post as I misread one of yours.

Go back to my post:

Yes I understand that as I said pardon, apologising for my ignorance of not being able to judge something fairly without studying it.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting bronbron23:</div><div class="quote_post">Ok I recognise this pardon me</div>

Yes I understand that you don't care about chamillionaire, but I was suggesting for those who do believe chamillionaire is a good rapper maybe they could suggest something that would allow me to have a good judgement.

That particular comment was not aimed at yourself, as I said "someone" and not "you".

I think anyone with a sane mind can come to the conclusion that an artist with millionaire in his name is complete and utter ****.

It would be a misconception then. I am not a huge Chamillionaire fan but he doesn't talk about the same BS that most rappers these days though, he has a good quality of being real.

Bone Thugs new album is gonna be serious. Never Forget Me and I tried with Akon are crazy.

He's ridin' dirty though. Need I say more? Can we not look into the heart of hip hop and find something better to listen to than that scrub. He's out there to get his money, and nothing else. That's not what hip hop is about, that's why I bag on him.

The heart of hip-hop is party good-time music. Ridin, as the best rap single of the year, is a perfect example of that....yes, lyrically it's nothing new, but the hook is off the chain. Jedi Mind Tricks, Wu-Tang and obscure rap groups do not represent the heart of hip hop, they are alternative hip-hop.

The song actually had a semi positive message to it though.

I gotta go with my boy, Cash Money Machiavelli.
