Best S&T scenarios for LMA?

Splitter at 9 million is OK. We will need some D help. But is he that much better than Joel Freeland if not in a SA uniform?

He's certainly taller. But both of them seem a bit injury prone these days. And Splitter is not a great rebounder.

Green wants a big contract , not sure we want to spend our cap space on him. Again how good is he when not in the SA system?

Green is a player ideal for a contending team. That's not going to be us.

Just say no to Splitter please. Prodding centers with no semblance of an outside shot are out.

He's also 30. Ew.

Cleveland. But I want Tristan Thompson more than Love, so Cleveland would have to have another S&T worked out for Love.
Cleveland could easily let Love walk for nothing and use Thompson and x player to get Aldridge in a sign and trade. A trio of Irving, LBJ and Aldridge would be extremely tough to beat, especially if Aldridge buys in to play center. LBJ would absolutely demolish any PF assigned to guard him.

I think a sign-and-trade for Love is the most reasonable scenario. Would LA want to go to Cleveland to play with King James and rack up a couple of titles? Seems plausible and he'd fit better than Love. The Cavs don't have the cap space to make a play for LA without doing a S&T. Love, OTOH, would be a natural in Stotts' offense with his 3 point shooting ability.

Splitter is a system guy that looked really slow last season. Taking him back would just ass insult to injury in a S&T.

I think Tristan Thompson or Love are obvious targets.

We could have had Thompson and most likely Oladipo right now if we had made this trade two years ago.

I know Tristan Thompson is very good at D and rebounding and all but man he sucks on offense and from the line....

I thought Love already opted out. Can he still be traded?

The problem with Thompson is that he is not making much money and Aldridge after signing will be making over 20 million. According to my rough calculations it would take Thompson, Mozgov and four scrubs to match up.

I guess he would have to do the same as Aldridge; sign with Cleveland first. Of course if he wanted to come to Portland anyway, what incentive would Portland have to do a sign and trade? They let Aldridge go and sign Love, if that's who they wanted. Should Portland even be thinking about sign and trade? Would they be better off just using the cap space to sign a free agent?

I guess just for the extra year for Love??

Yes, we have the cap space to sign love outright but Cleveland wouldn't have enough to grab Aldridge. It would only mean we use it to acquire assets. If there is nothing we want in Cleveland, then it's moot

I think if LA is to be signed-and-traded then Houston is a very likely destination. What could they offer in return? Obviously the centerpiece would be Papanikolaou, but who else? I think Clint Capela would be a start, as he's an intriguing young big, but maybe also Corey Brewer? The rights to All-ACB center Marko Todorovic (that we gave them for T-Rob)? Anyone interested in Dekker and/or Harrell? Obviously we wouldn't get close to LA value, but we'd be lucky to be getting anything since he could sign outright in other places.

Wild card: OKC. We've been over this before in previous years, but they could give us Ibaka. Not sure he really fits for them, though. LA wouldn't mind the small-town thing as he's not exactly outgoing, and it's right next to Texas.

LA is not leaving Portland but in a weird scenario that he did, I'd only sign and trade him for Anthony Davis, Kevin Durant or Lebron James.

San Antonio might end up being a S&T if it happens, where we take back Splitter. But if so, I want Kyle Anderson. If people can get excited about Vonleh, I can get excited about him. He has PG skills and SF size, even if he's slow-mo:

Kyle Anderson plays with a bit of Brandon Roy like speed and poise.

And believe it or not, he's the same height as, with an even longer wingspan than, Tristan Thompson.

But sadly, his hands are not freakishly huge.

But the more I think about it, taking back Splitter seems unlikely, because it would prevent Olshey pursuing DeAndre Jordan. So never mind.

Deandre Jordan just announced he's only meeting with 4 teams..Lakers, Clippers, Mavs and Bucks

Probably cus he hasn't talked to Olshey yet.

With that said, if true, I am happy. I don't want him personally.

Bucks? Damn we cant even get a meeting with Olshey's guy.. smh

That means olshey isn't interested, which tells me were going even bigger. You don't make the plumlee deal if you're rebuilding. His reasoning wouldn't make sense either because olshey said they wanted the guy that was more of a sure thing to play next season.

the draft rights to Sergio Lull and Todorovic, Clint Capela, Sam Dekker and a future 1st sounds like a good deal
