Now rumors are Scherzer wants 200 million and I doubt Hal will pay that so Shields is the next best. How about Shields and McCarthy?

Yeah after the Lester signing you just know Scherzer is going to be asking for some real stupid money.
...I saw that the Giants were very close, and offered 6 years/$150 Mil.

Scherzer is getting to have an ego larger than that of the Yankees returning druggist, per MLB last night Detroit is trying to get him signed, guess the improvements to the Indians and White Sox are causing concern up there. Detroit ownership has always proffered generous salaries to players they like but I think 200 million to Scherzer is a bit much.
Hal will pony up for Scherzer....175-185 range.
Just heard Ron Darling state that it took a lot of confidence for Scherzer to turn down that 6 year 144 million dollar deal from Detroit made early last year. I have to disagree Ron, the man plays on a Detroit Team that despite the fiscal hardships come out to support the team paying his salary. Pensioners are fighting for their lives to avoid cuts, services to different parts of the city are affected and Scherzer flips off that offer. Greedy ^&%%%$*&(* in my book.
...Tote and I had a rather heated discussion about that after Scherzer turned down that offer from Detroit.

The thing you need to remember with Scherzer is, Yankee stadium is not exactly a pitchers friendly park.
...you can apply the YS park factor to any pitcher...and Max isn't exactly a "pitch to contact" pitcher...he strikes out a lot of batters, has a low WHIP, doesn't give up a ton of bombs, and averages almost 7 innings per start.
...Max will pitch well wherever he ends up...he'd be a monster in the NL.
I'm only saying that warning track shots to RF in many parks will be HRs in Yankee stadium. So his 20 bombs a year could end up being closer to 30 MAYBE
