That's a 12 million dollar a year bench player!

Hornets forward Peja Stojakovic has been a starter for most of his career, but he seems to be embracing the prospect of coming off the bench after coach Byron Scott named Julian Wright the starting small forward.

"This is my 12th season," Stojakovic tells The Times-Picayune. "I really believe I can still play good basketball. I still love going out there and competing against younger guys. There are a lot more games and practices, but the main thing for me is to stay healthy. ... I still believe that I can be a productive basketball player. I spoke to Coach (Byron Scott) at the beginning, and no matter what role he has for me, I'm for it, if I can be helpful to this team. We talked about it. I'm not looking for any individual achievements."

Peja with the Hornets is what I imagined with Hedo coming to us. A formerly great player who peaked and to whom you're paying All-Star money for bench production.

Exactly. His back hasn't been "right" for several years, and it has an amazing record of having problems when you need him, which as for any team, is every game. Part of the reason Chris Paul has been getting the hell beat out of himself during the regular season is guys who are supposed to shoulder part of the load, like Peja, are hurt all the god damned time. Severe back injuries never get better. Best just to bank on that being the case, and moving on.

Well said. Hedo has always struck me as "Peja-Light" since back in the Sactown days.

They've kind of had different career arcs, though. Peja was really good from ages 23 to 28 or so. Hedo's peak seems to span about the last two years or so.

I'm not sure you can ever consider Hedo "formerly great", though. He's never averaged 20 ppg. He's never had a PER higher than 17.8.

At some point he'll probably be considered "formerly decent, and now a fucking albatross of a contract."

I've always put a lot of stock in the brilliant management of the Spurs. That they cast him off after a single season (his best year ever at hitting threes, no less) speaks volumes.

Whoa Nellie!

Death by BBQ. Almost as good as death by chocolate.

My friends and I made The Bacon Explosion this past summer just because it seemed so ridiculous. If you make it, you'll need a crash cart. We actually found we liked it best sliced in a bun with creamy cole slaw.

If you want to amp it up even further, my buddy took the leftovers the next morning, fried it in a skilled to warm it back up, put it on toast and topped it with two fried eggs.

If you read NY media (especially Berman and Hahn) you'd think Danilo Galinari is the second coming of Christ and Larry Bird.

Lottery pick Tyreke Evans hasn't practiced yet in Sac either. Sergio might get some run when they come up here next week!
