A fat robin with one of the blueberries from my bushes in its mouth landed on the fence outside my kitchen window yesterday. We were staring each other eye-to-eye and I swear the little SOB was laughing at me.

When BG moved into his current house he asked me how I attracted the hummingbirds. When I told him, he immediately went to his local nursery and purchased several Hot Lips. Literally, within 30 minutes of planting them in his backyard he had his first hummingbird show up. The plant in general has a fairly strong and distinct odor that seems to draw them…..

Yeah. Our entire yard is now planted with several varieties of salvia, including “hot lips”. Tons of hummingbirds (and we often see a fair amount of bees and butterflies as well).

Good call. We moved the hummingbird feeder to the side of the screened porch, got rid of the green sunflower seed feeders, added safflower seeds to the main feeder (apparently, crows/blackbirds aren't fond of safflower seeds), added a bird house, and added some flowers flanking the hummingbird feeder. I'm wondering if hot lips (as @UncleCliffy'sDaddy had suggested) might be better off there instead(?)

Anyway, here's a before/after look.

The added cover was a good call.

Lucia left half a bird on my bath mat. Generous cat.

Look, fams, I can't tell her not to be a cat.

I can only image, the year is 2011, and you are smiling and humming Al Stewart's classic.....waiting patiently for 2023.

Being a bird lover I had omelette for breakfast and will have some air fried Chicken for dinner
