That street goes both ways. My links were simply in response to Hoop. And pointing to facts that are conveniently and purposely ignored by some is not dehumanizing anyone and if facts are disturbing to some people I'm sorry, but it still doesn't change the facts.
Black on black crime is in fact a serious and undeniable problem, but it is seldom if ever addressed...and some people don't want to acknowledge it and/or discuss it.
It is a serious problem. And, it seems to be a convenient rebuttal for several here whenever we talk about racism and white people killing black people.
So let's look at it. Why are black people killing black people? Because of a racist societal structure that has marginalized and disenfranchised African Americans. A majority percentage of impoverished Americans are African Americans. Poverty, not to mention the lack of opportunity and privelage in black communities lead to a feeling of powerlessness.
They are abandoned by society and end up in the streets, in gangs, a place where they can feel powerful and in control. They can feel like they belong. To keep that power and to gain more they end killing each other.
Now enough distraction let's get back to the issue at hand. Police brutality against African Americans. A racist societal structure that needs to be changed.
