OT Black Man In Minnesota Dies After Cop Kneels On His Neck/ Portland Riots

Welcome to our community

It's as if a lot of people don't really see a problem with viewing the police as the military that works within our borders.

It's weird because when I was a kid, cops wore the more dressy uniforms. They looked, I don't know if friendlier is the right word, but more engaging.

Now, most cops look like troops on the street. The only thing they're missing is the AR-15/M4 rifle and the MICH helmet.

If you had to choose between the two, which ones look more like members of the community and which ones look like they're out on patrol looking for the enemy?

Exactly. And .243 would also be considered an underpowered hunting rifle. But a .270 or larger is required to hunt elk. The 270 is also sometimes considered underpowered, even though it's far more powerful than a 5.56 or 7.62 used in most AR applications.
I have a Sako .270 which I can load really hot. It's powerful enough to take down any big game except maybe a large large bear.

5.56 I agree with. 7.62 is the same as a .308 hunting rifle round.

I do wonder, though, what would’ve happened if the police weren’t called. A girl with a serious (maybe lethal) knife wound? Another girl arrested later for (attempted) murder?

So, scorecard:

Without police = maybe one dead girl and another girl arrested (life probably ruined)

With police = one dead girl

It was a fight between some teenage girls that escalated when one girl tried to stab another girl. A terrible situation all around with or without police involvement.
You know, some sort of non lethal action would clearly be better but I'm not sure an officer with a split second to decide can risk that time delay.
Didn't they have tasers and bean bag guns readily available?

Twice impeached loser called Lebron James a racist. If you are trying to become relevant, attacking someone far more popular than oneself is not a good way to start.

Yeah, I love my .270 as well! They shoot so nice.
Less kick so you can shoot more shots at the range without wearing out your shoulder and if you use the right powder there is no chance of a double charge.

Lebron is the anti racist.

Lebron is not a racist but to be honest he made that judgement a little to quick. I understand how he felt but the facts must come in before a national icon makes statement. Just how I feel.

Accused drug-planting deputy slapped with two dozen new charges

Prosecutors have leveled a host of new charges against the former Jackson County deputy accused of planting drugs on unwary drivers during bogus traffic stops recorded by his own body camera.

Zachary Wester, whose career in law enforcement came crashing down in 2018 after the allegations came to light, was indicted last year on a total of 52 counts, including charges of racketeering, official misconduct, perjury, fabricating evidence, false imprisonment and possession of drugs. The charges stemmed from Wester’s arrests of 11 different people.

Last month, prosecutors filed an amended information charging Wester with two dozen additional counts involving five more of his alleged victims. The charges stemmed from traffic stops in 2017 and 2018 in which drivers or passengers were arrested on drug charges including possession of methamphetamine and marijuana.

During one of the arrests cited in the new indictment, Wester sang, “We Wish You a Merry Christmas,” as he searched a Chevrolet Tahoe he pulled over in the Lowe’s parking lot in Marianna. The entire 40-minute traffic stop, which culminated in the arrest of the driver, happened while Wester’s body camera was running.

“Man, I am in the Christmas spirit,” he said as he rifled through the SUV. “I mean, I like to hum a tune in case something ever goes to the jury, you know, so they’re not just sitting somewhere ... chilling.”

In another of the new cases, Wester stopped a woman with two kids in the car because one of her brake lights was broken, according to arrest reports. After a search of the vehicle, Wester claimed several baggies with suspected meth were found on the front console under her wallet. She denied it was hers. But Wester arrested her for felony possession and — because kids were present — child endangerment.

Four of the newly identified victims arrested by Wester had their charges tossed before sentencing. In one case, however, a woman was sentenced to nearly a year in county jail after pleading no contest to possession of a controlled substance. Several months later, a judge ordered her sentencing and plea set aside, and prosecutors dropped the charges.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement began investigating Wester in August 2018 after rumors of shady arrests began rippling through the courthouse. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office fired him a month later after an internal investigation.

During the internal probe, his coworkers searched his vehicle and found a wealth of unmarked evidence, including 42 pieces of drug paraphernalia, 10 baggies of meth and five baggies of marijuana. The items were similar to those he planted on drivers, investigators said.

After a nearly year-long investigation, FLDE agents arrested him last July at his home in Crawfordville. He pleaded not guilty and later denied the accusations through his attorneys. Ryan Davis, a Tallahassee attorney representing Wester, declined to comment.

State Attorney Bill Eddins for the 1st Judicial Circuit said the investigation into Wester continued after his arrest, leading to the recent charges. He said he doesn’t expect additional charges against Wester or any of his former colleagues in connection with the probe.

“Our investigation is complete unless somebody provides us additional information,” Eddins said.

Prosecutors reviewed nearly 300 cases involving Wester, ultimately dropping charges against roughly 120 defendants. State Attorney Glenn Hess of the 14th Judicial Circuit later recused himself, prompting the appointment of Eddins.

Wester is expected to go to trial in the summer or fall, Eddins said. The trial was pushed back from December in part because of the large number of witnesses and a prolonged discovery process, in which prosecutors share evidence and witnesses with the defense.

“Under Florida law ... (Wester) has a right to question them all in a deposition,” Eddins said. “My understanding is that process is ongoing, although there remains a large amount of those witnesses who need to be questioned.”

'I do not do drugs'
Wester broke into Christmas song after stopping Chris Fears on June 3, 2018, in Marianna. He and another deputy searched his Tahoe, supposedly finding a plastic container with meth inside, while Fears and his wife stood next to a patrol car.

“Looky there,” Wester said.

“What the hell?” said Fears, clearly stunned by the discovery.

“I’ll explain that in just a minute man, just put your hands behind your back for me,” Wester said as he cuffed him.

“I do not do drugs,” Fears said. “I do not do drugs.”

Using a field kit, Wester tested the substance, which came up positive for meth.

“Man this is bull----,” Fears said. “I didn’t do nothing. All I do is take my ass to work.”

Fears was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and held in jail overnight, bonding out the next day. On July 10, then-Assistant State Attorney Christina Pumphrey, who helped bring the Wester allegations to light, dropped the charge against him.

“Based upon the available, competent evidence, the charge cannot be proved beyond a reasonable doubt,” she wrote in a court filing.

Fears, who is among more than two dozen people suing Wester and the Sheriff’s Office in federal court, said he couldn’t discuss his case in detail because of the litigation. However, he acknowledged Wester’s arrest completely upended his life.

“When he arrested me, I lost my job and I had to pretty much sell everything I had that was worth anything to keep a roof over my head,” Fears said. “I couldn’t find a job because nobody wanted to hire somebody with a fresh meth arrest. Me and my wife split up for a while over that because it was just so damn stressful.”

Maybe you could argue Lebron spoke without totally considering his words, but he's a ballplayer. The idea that Trump would call him out for speaking without thinking would be mind boggling were my mind not in permanent boggle when it comes to twice impeached loser.

Lol wrong again. Lebron would never get 70M+ votes

I wasn't aware of what Trump had to say, I wouldn't believe a word of it anyway. I have not listen to or seen anything from him and its been nice.
I know Lebron is young and a ball player but thought is words were a bit careless. We all say careless things on occasion.

Yes, Yes, Yes.

The problem today is when someone is accused or threatened it basically makes them a target for hate. Even someone innocent.

No, the real problem is unarmed Black people being killed by police on a daily basis on the slimmest of pretexts or none at all.

And I am old enough to remember that song. Was it Youngbloods?

How callous Colorado cops left 73-year-old dementia sufferer in a cell for six HOURS after breaking her arm and dislocating her shoulder over $13 stolen groceries - and laughed as she cried out for a doctor
  • Loveland Police Officers Austin Hopp and Daria Jalali arrested Karen Garner, 73, on June 26, 2020, after she left Walmart without paying $13-worth of items
  • Footage from Hopp's body-camera shows him slamming Garner, who has dementia, to the ground, causing her to fracture her elbow and dislocate her arm
  • In the first hour in custody, Garner screamed out in pain or pleaded for help 51 times, according to an amended lawsuit
  • Attorney Sarah Schielke told DailyMail.com that Garner still doesn't have full mobility of her arm, 'Mentally it's a heartbreaking picture'
  • New video released by an attorney for Garner's family on Monday purportedly showed the officers laughing at body-camera footage of the arrest hours later
  • Hopp is heard saying: 'Ready for the pop?' at the moment Garner's arm came out of its socket
  • Schielke filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against Hopp on April 15
  • State prosecutors subsequently opened a criminal investigation into Hopp, Jalali and their supervisor, Sgt Phil Metzler

You have to read this story and see the videos. This is sooooo fucked up.

Why isn't his primary concern ensuring that NOBODY gets killed? Again, she's a kid. She's not a hardened criminal. He shouldn't even have had his gun out. Knife crime is a bigger deal in the UK than here (because - no guns!) but the cops don't go around shooting people who have knives.

Too bad you weren’t there to jump in the middle of the knife fight and dissolve the situation, like we all know you wanted to be. Maybe next time you can show us how it’s done bud.

Not arguing with you at all, but it's drifting off topic.
