If I were black, I'd hate whites. Today's news:

Video shows nine police California officers arrested a black teenager and slammed him on to concrete while arresting him for jaywalking. Witnesses said a Stockton police officer ordered the teenager to sit down, but the teen instead continued walking toward a waiting bus.

Bystander Edgar Avendaño, who recorded the video, said the officer grabbed the teen’s arm in attempt to stop him and then pulled out his baton after the teen “took off the cop’s hand off his arm.”

Stockton police told VICE News that the 16-year-old teen did not respond to an officer’s request to get out of the bus lane. “For safety reasons, the officer told the young man to get on the sidewalk,” officer Joseph Silva said. “After the teenager refused to comply and used obscene language, the officer went over and a there was a scuffle.”

Police said the officer was wearing a body camera, but the device was knocked off during the initial confrontation. Avendaño’s video shows the officer leaning hard on the teen, who is seated on a brick landscaping wall. The officer then uses the baton to pin the teen’s ankles against his body as bystanders urge him to stop.

The officer repeatedly orders the teen to stop resisting as the teen writhes in pain from having the baton pinned against his ankles. The teen eventually sits up and tries to push the baton away from his legs, and the officer swings it twice at the teen’s face. The officer backs up and orders the teen, who sits on the wall holding his injured jaw, to get on the ground.

Eight other officers begin arriving at that point, and they lift the teen up and walk him several feet away from the wall before slamming the teen onto the sidewalk. Four officers then pile on top of the teen and pin him to the ground before handcuffing him, as the other four officer stand guard and attempt to block the Avendaño’s camera angle. The officers pull the handcuffed teen to his feet, and the teen sobs as he’s led to a patrol car as the bystander continues yelling at officers.

I was handcuffed in Beverly Hills once for jaywalking in a spot with no traffic by a bored cop. Was going for a coffee break while painting a house there. Of all the places I've lived, California by far had the most aggressive and worst cops.

I found Chinese laugh at the stereotypes. I've actually been in a park in Taiwan near a fire station and seen an alarm go off and the fire truck had a dead battery, the firemen were push starting it. Another time I saw a high rise building burn to the ground in Taipei because the fire trucks couldn't get through bumper to bumper traffic to put it out. There used to be a cartoon in the Taipei Times about foreigners know they've been in Taiwan too long when.....example. You see a mother with 4 kids on a scooter and you think, if she moved that basket she could get two more on there. There is racism in Chinese culture and biased towards lighter skinned asians. Mostly it's stereotypes though and they find humor in them. They generally don't deal with human problems or differences because the 3 rules of Chinese culture are family, food and money. Anything else just gets in the way of those. There is a hatred of the Japanese throughout much of asia since WWII

I have seen white people hit by cops..it's not exclusive to the black community to have fucked up cops hitting people. Still it's wrong but as we do share the country..we share injustices as well. The reason I asked the question if "Chinese fire drill" is racist, one person was offended when I used that term.

I was helping out on a larger fishing boat. On board were two fisherman (father/son) that had never caught a Tuna. I had never met either fishermen until that day. I was trying to explain to them what it is like when a Tuna bite goes off and used the term Chinese Fire Drill.

Tuna are a schooling fish; it is not uncommon to have 4 or more Albacore hooked up at one time, swimming around the boat at up to 40 mph. After you land a Tuna in the boat, they bleed like crazy making a very big mess. An Albacore bite is non-stop chaos action and can go on for a long time; often 30 or more fish are caught on one short stop. I have seen Albacore in such a feeding frenzy, they swallow the bait before it hits the water.

Anyway, I used the term “Chinese Fire Drill” to explain what an Albacore bite looks like. The two fishermen were very friendly, until I used that term. The father instantly became distant. Then I noticed he was Asian. Until then, he was just another fisherman I was trying to teach how to catch Albacore. I tried to make it up to him, but he shut me out after that.

I have not used the term since. But I am curious if the dad was oversensitive, or, is the term offensive to many Asians?

You said Chinese fire drill. While honestly not knowing what that means or where it originated, it sounds racist to me. I don't think he was being oversensitive. It may not be offensive to Mags but Mags isn't Chinese.
