Blake Griffin- buyout candidate

We can’t trade for him without lots of talent going out. If we get him it will be as free agent.
I think he's bought out or close to it so he'll go to whatever team his agent chooses....CJ has the same agent he has..he knows Neil well. We have a roster spot..I don't think any trading will be done....Blake will just move on from Detroit. They haven't been able to trade him or they wouldn't buy him out at that pricetag....he left 13 mil on the table

Good luck with that move. Giving up $13 million in a racist USA is a bold move. His entire game was based on athleticism. He’s cross-eyed, ffs. He has nothing to offer anymore other than maybe some ref favoritism.
No. It wasn’t. He is a very skilled playmaker. Less than 2 years ago, he was All NBA.

No, Shrempf was signed to be a key player, possibly the starting SF; then the team traded for Pippen and Shrempf was a good backup.

Detleft was a 37/38 years old role player here... very different from a 31 year old Griffin that is under the delusion he is a good NBA player, or Rod Strickland who was averaging 12/7 playing 30mpg in the season he was brought in.
Pippen came to us before Detlef

He’s 32 in a week and he sucks so bad no team wanted to trade for him. He’s an older version of Brandon Roy or a peer of Victor Oladipo. From All-NBA to awful in an instant.

His knees are done. There’s no coming back from it. You don’t like to see it but it happens.

Had no idea that Flake Griffin has only played more than 66 games 3x in his 10 seasons.

Completely overrated and limited player who should pay Chris Paul half of money for Griffin’s post-rookie contracts. For such athleticism, he was just average on defense at his peak.

My brain has always remembered that the team brought back detlef the same time they signed Strickland, but Detlef was brought back a whole month prior to Rod signing with the Blazers.

I must've blocked that whole season from my memory.

Detlef signed in August, Pippen was traded for Oct 2nd.

Detlef had 'retired' after the 99-2000 season, and Trader Bob convinced him to come back, and he did around Feb 1st of 2000.

I was making a joke. The Pistons are a high lotto lock in a stacked draft. Their pick is more valuable then any of their players including Grant... they aren't trading it.

One question i have. How often do we see players like this do some kind of workout before signing? If Blake Griffin can't really play any more wouldn't a team be smart to give him a workout?
Quite often they have to pass a physical so why not a workout?

Because this kind of players deservedly feel disrespected if they are asked to prove they can still play with workout. Physical they do and they feel it's enough. It's not that he asks for more than the minimum anyway.

I guess i have a problem with players feeling disrespected for earning millions? Blake Griffin Minimum salary is for 9-10 years about $2.4 million. He has earned about $200 million so far. Nobody anywhere has disrespected this man. I think it's reasonable to say "hey we would like to have you here but we also would like to see if spending our money on you is worth it". Blazers could use the spot and money on a player that could actually play the game.

Well till few weeks ago he was active so there is plenty of film to go over. I don't think it's reasonable to expect him to workout. Especially since according to reports there is some interest in him from a lot of teams.

I agree with most of what you wrote, but I don't think that's why nobody wanted to trade for him. His contract was stupid was the main roadblock. Dude was stupid overpaid.

Woj listed Portland as an interested team so Neil is definitely interested. It is known that Neil and Woj are close.
No, Woj never said that Portland has interest, or Blake has interest in Portland.

He is very careful with his wording - he said "expected". So, the thought is that Portland is a playoff team, we're hurting for bigs, and there is an Olshey-Griffin connection. So, the speculation makes sense, but it is just that, speculation.

Another player that doesn't play defense on the Nets. Fantastic.

Better them then the Blazers. They already have enough defensive lapses.

That team would have been amazing fire years ago.

Side note: NBA jerseys have gone from classic and timeless to fucking childish. That Nets jersey looks like something a rec league team would wear.
The all star jerseys were no great shakes either.

apparently drummond is gonna get bought out and go to the Lakers.

come on man. i have no interest in him, but this kinda shit needs to stop.
