I was co-GM with another poster here (maybe... :) ) and we both picked the same guy.

Enjoy :)

You got suckered and bought the hype in '04. I KNEW Luke Jackson would be a HUGE bust. And EVERYONE knew Kevin Martin would be a stud. Telfair? Really?

It's interesting reading through some of those drafts. I think the 'fan' GM's did pretty well. It'd be very interesting to see how well 'fans' did in terms of win production at the position a player got selected compared to the actual general managers. I notice that the usenet GM's tend to reach a bit for deep 2nd round talent, like Ha Seung Jin in the 2004 draft. But the top half of the first round, at least in 2004, is probably better than some of the reaches by actual GM's that season at least.

Jackson and Telfair were good values where I got them in that draft.

Ah, Dontonio Wingfield. Those were the days...

Indeed. I think that my "love" of him has grown in the perception of others over the years. At least based on my comments on him in that draft report.

I liked your notes on Derek Anderson and Stephen Jackson.

I know it's usenet era - but even then people did ascii-art - and I didn't see no ascii-art of a random girl next to the "Ed" name, so I say it's a fake.

WHAT THE FUCK DOES THIS MEAN IN NORMAL SPEAK!?!?!

Nice read, EO. Do you still feel the same about Allen?

I do. Paul Allen is one of the best owners in team sports. He seems like he might be more involved (meddlesome?) now than he was then, but he still opens up his pocketbook and writes big checks, which is the most important thing for a market like Portland.

I've always like PA too. Never agreed with scrubs like Canzano who dog on him for not acting like a jack like Cuban. It's awesome seeing PA fired up on draft night, I just hope this latest round of cancer hasn't taken too much out of him.
