Blazer fan since 2008. Attending my first game this season. A little help?

I've been watching the Blazers religiously since 2008. Became a fan when my friend showed me the Andre Miller led team when they were so injured they could only field 8 players. (Even McMillan got injured from having to make up numbers in practice!) And they still kept winning! Well it's been love ever since.

I've never been to the US before but my friend from NZ is doing a sabbatical this fall so I'm going to YOLO over and see him and catch a game. We're in town for POR - ATL on November 17.

Because this is a once in a lifetime deal we wanted to try and get some great seats (ie 101 or something) but our budget is not high. My question (sorry for the lengthy prefix) is whether we need to buy now or whether we should wait to see if these seats become affordable to us closer to the time on the secondary market?

I have literally no idea how any of this works. Just noticing that Blazers games haven't always been rammed the past couple of seasons and the Hawks are not the biggest draw? But maybe Blazers tickets are always snapped up? Anyone have any insight for a noob tourist?
(I'm fricking so pumped I'm actually going to a game! I need to make the most of it.)

The team fucking sucks and will suck going into November 17th.

Get on the seatgeek or whatever close to if not on GameDay, people will be just wanting to get rid of the tickets for super cheap. And since it's a team no one cares about (the hawks... but I have to clarify lol) and an eastern conference team, tickets should be dirt cheap the closer you get to tip.

And make sure the Blazers themselves get the least amount of your money as possible. Until they care to field a competitive roster, make sure that you give them the least amount of your money.
 
My recommendation would be to stay out of Portland. That being said, let me see if my tickets are available

You'll have a great time regardless of the competition...the Moda crowd is good company! You won't be disappointed!
 
November is the best month for Blazers ball. The team should be at full strength and amped up for a big win. The Hawks are toast.... Go Blazers !!

tickets ?? I like the suite level the best. It's been awhile since I checked the VIP level. Looks like pimped out stuff up there. Might be worth a shot to contact Moda Center/Blazer ticket sales, see if you can snag some spots in a booth.
 
I'd think the tickets will be cheapest day of the game, however mid November is so early in the season you probably won't get a super cheap deal like you might towards the end of the year.

Yeah if you find someone willing to sell you direct tickets without fees that might be best.

Wait until the day of the game to buy tickets. We are going to suck this year so you will get a good deal from people trying to unload their tickets. I hope you have a great time when you visit!

Yeah, the team ain't great rn, but I still can't wait to see the young guns in person, it's not starstudded but i'm excited to see so many of the players.
Give me internal development over mercenary free agents every day, we had the Harkless/Aminu years
