Blazers are currently in the 10th seed. last play in position. Both the Mavs and Clippers are behind them. Both the Mavs and the Clippers will pass them. There is no team currently ahead of the Blazers that they will pass. Maybe the Grizzlies but I doubt that.
This season is over except some fun games and maybe some inspired play at times.
Belief is a choice. I find today's common view of being a "realist?" to be the inverse of what being a fan is for me. I see more heart, effort, and grit from this decimated Blazer team than I have seen in decades. I am enjoying this ride of shorthanded team gelling, because of what it means for the future. That future is sprouting right now. You know what the really cool thing is? I don't have to wait for it internally to be proven before I get to ride that joy. I'm already there.

That is why I said I disagree. It's not to say you are wrong.

Go Blazers!!

I think you're right in your predictions, but I don't think the season is without meaning. I think we'll get passed by pretty much everyone, maybe even the Pelicans, especially if Zion stays healthy. I also think we've already established ourselves as a team on the rise that's got a chance to be a real threat next season depending on where we land in the lottery and what trades we make. In the meantime, we're doing a lot of good things, beating some teams we probably shouldn't, developing, and finding out who can be a piece for us moving forward and showcasing some potential trade chips.

I think we're being extra careful with some of the injured guys because, while I think the injuries are legit, I think some of them could play, but there's little benefit in playing them and winning a few more extra games right now. I posted before, no matter what the organization said publicly, the organization's actions proved this was not a team trying to make the play-in round.

And it won't, but that's not a bad thing right now. This team is exponentially better than it was last year, and it will be at the end of the year regardless of the record. And the Blazers should be exponentially better next year. I wouldn't be shocked if next year's Blazers are in the top six in the West. Not a prediction or a guarantee, but I see things coming together that make me think that could be the case. If not, certainly in two years.

So all can be true. We can still play to win (aside from holding out some marginally injured players) and still drop in the standings and still improve.

Lots to watch and cheer for. That’s what I’m doing anyway. Really enjoyed last nights game for instance. Got some guys out there playing tough.

Yep. Lots to play for and lots of improvement can happen.
Not down on my team at all. Just think there is more to it and eventually they will hit a winner in the draft. It’s been pretty much proven that the draft and low level trades are the way to build in Portland. Not getting much in free agency.

My biggest concern is Deni. The downside of being cautious about bringing back some of the injured players is watching Deni play back-to-back 39-minute games. I don't want to see him get injured as a result of it. Getting any PG back would help.

For clarity (and I'm not trying to argue), if you're post had been, "This team is done this year for me", I would not have quoted you. You stated it as if it were fact. Factually, this team is not done this year.

On a side note, not all fans watch only for the perceived shot at a title. Many watch to see good people playing hard....and that season is not done until the last game clock reads 00:00.

Have a safe New Year and a prosperous 26!

Yeah people complaining about him missing free throws. Like gee I wonder why.

I guess what I’m saying is I’ve resigned to the idea that they are a lotto team.
I’m a diehard Blazer fan and supporter. So understand one thing will always be true

Kjironman is a fan!!

Thanks for explaining. II took your comment wrong. My apologies. Things are definitely arrows up

PORTLAND, Ore. (January 1, 2026) - Portland Trail Blazers guard Jrue Holiday has been cleared for a progression of on-court basketball activities as he continues his return-to-play process. Availability will be determined based on functional response to loading and updated accordingly.

While reconditioning for return to play following left thumb ligament surgery, Matisse Thybulle has been working on a progressive ramp up, despite persistent symptoms with right knee tendinopathy. He continues to progress with on-court work and conditioning and his status will be updated as appropriate.

Scoot Henderson has initiated non-contact, on-court basketball activities as he advances to the next phase of rehabilitation for his left hamstring. He will be re-evaluated in two weeks, with updates provided as appropriate.

Jerami Grant is on the team’s road trip and is considered day-to-day with left Achilles tendonitis.

I think it may be his recovery really isnt going well? POR isnt shutting down Scoot.

I really want Jrue and Jerami playing again right now as long as it's safe so they will have their maximum value at the trade deadline and even Tisse for the same reason.

For me the number one person I want to see on the court with Shaedon, Deni, Tou and Clingan is Scoot.

Overall I'm eager for all of these guys to get back but really don't want to see them have a recurrence of their current injuries or a massive related injury. Fingers crossed that they get back and can stay healthy.

I think we will see Jerami back vs the Jazz and Jrue in a week or so.

based on what?

any injury status reports come from the Blazer F.O. and those sure seem to have consistently been inaccurate, and at times, wildly optimistic

it has now been 14 weeks for Scoot when the prognosis was 4-8 weeks. For Jrue, grade 2 calf tears typically have a recovery time of 3-8 weeks. It has been 7 weeks so it's still within that general window. I'm assuming grade 2 because of the time missed. It's also likely the case that a grade 2 calf tear will have a longer recovery for a 35 year old than a 25 year old.

it's also the case that for Jrue and Grant, there is the very real risk of Achilles injury. Caution is warranted. But I'm at the point where I don't pay attention to Blazer spin on injuries. Their new buzzword appears to be 'ramping up'. Jrue is ramping up; Scoot is ramping up; Thybulle is ramping up. That could mean anything. I'll believe they are near returning when they play

I get that the calf muscles merge to form the Achilles tendon, so they are structurally connected, but I am suspicious that every calf injury warrants so much time off. I am not sure who is making the call on Jrue, but I heard from a reliable source that he was cleared a few weeks ago. So I'm guessing it is up to him when he wants to come back. It would be a lot easier to accept if one of our other 3 PGs were healthy. Again, I am concerned with Deni playing so many minutes because of it. On the other hand, maybe it is helping Deni make his first all-star team.

interesting....so, Jrue has been cleared to play but he isn't playing? That's kind of wild. I'm not sure how credible it is

if true, I have a hard time believing that he's the one choosing to not play. That would seem a team decision and maybe that's based upon not wanting to risk a re-injury before the trade deadline. Maybe some team wants to trade for Jrue but is keeping it's powder dry till the trade deadline to see if there is a better/cheaper option

as for Deni, it's not like he's playing 40 minutes/game

15 players play as much or more. Deni may generate more contact than most, but he's also still 24...wait a minute....he turned 25 today. In 13 seasons, Dame never averaged less minutes than Deni is averaging; in 12 he averaged more
