Should the Blazers start the Tank early this season

Maybe you do start tanking but honestly the team that’s available to play every night doesn’t need to “tank” to lose a bunch of games. Play to win every night, just so you are honest with yourself as a team.
This is the way all tanks should be. The guys on the floor should never be trying to lose, IMO.

Cannot stomach trying to lose on purpose, they have at least been competitive for the most part and are in more games than not.

They aren't winning one way or the other
This literally is the way to look at it. Find a team in our next 20 games that you realistically feel we SHOULD beat! I’ll wait. Having this mind state will cut back on all the anger in game threads of us getting our ass handed to us. If we are losing too a more talented team, you can’t get too heated.

Exactly.

With a healthy Jrue, Shae,Matise & that new dude, we win at least 2/3rds! lol

Coaches don't tank. GMs tank by telling players to sit. I've never seen a game where a coach looked like they were trying to lose. I've seen games where players sat in the second half but again I don't think that was the coach.
There were a couple Coach Hold’em games where it was clear he sat some guys to prevent us from beating the spread.

Tanking should only ever happen organically and never be a strategy. You should lose games trying to win them to be a lottery team and being a lottery team should never be your goal.
This is a nice story bro.

I just don’t think players ever really play to lose. They have been playing competitive their whole lives.
I do think at times players resign to the fact that the team isn’t winning and at some point they go through the motions.
Gotta be tough on a coach in this position as well.

This is what I think the Blazers are doing. They aren't trying to lose. They're going all out with who they have. But the front office knows realistically this team isn't ready to win a playoff series and getting another piece to add to the equation while the younger guys use this season to grow probably makes them more viable in the long run. No one that is the least bit injured will be rushed back. They are OK with winning, but they aren't desperate to win, and I am fine with that.

So it's game like that where a guy like Caleb Love get the team a win that are absolutely unexpected. You gotta figure it will happen.

First, we need the pick we traded away to the Bulls back.

Second, we need to develop the young guys that we already have. IMO, they are not going to benefit from tanking.

Third, it is going to take some luck regardless of where we are in the lottery.

I was so excited for the season to start since everything else around us has gone to shit. Needed that distraction. But almost immediately our coach has been pursued by the FBI and half our roster has been decimated by injuries. Ah, feels like 2025 and being a Blazers fan to me. :twothumbs:

How does it feel to be so wrong. It's sad.
Have to admit that was a fun win but they also let Curry have not one but two chances to hit a shot in the end and he missed them both. How often do we see that and have an end of bench guy throw two huge daggers to win a game like that.

Curry is the best shooter in the NBA but even for Steph Deni is difficult to shoot over.

So the team pulls off a win on the road against the Warriors and we all question the tank but then reality sets in when the Blazers play a real team that has a reason to play tough. There was never a minute that game was even in question.

Seriously even at full strength there was no way the Blazers were winning that game.

Of course not, but by no means does it mean throw in the towel and tank. The moment we beat them and gave them their only loss I knew this game would be a blow out.
Doesn't change anything.
We are a very hard playing, younger team who lost our vet pg and highest ceiling player in Holiday And Sharpe.
We lost all our ball handling.
It will be okay.
Time heals. We just live in an instant world with instant emotions.

Fuck the tank. Play to win, period. Let the ping-pong balls fall where they may.
