but as a Raider fan
I would love the Blazers to after Ariza for several reasons
1. He is better than any of our SF's right now
2. If they don't sign him they will drive the price up for the L*kers
3. Signing him more than likely means Travis will be gone

Fine. Play the game. Drive up the cost of Assriza. But dammit, if he's brought in I will have some serious psychological issues to deal with.
You really wouldn't want him here? He would be great!
you arent getting him...but screw you guys for raising his price
A starting contract of $8M for five years with small increases annually. Would that get him?
I'm warming up to this idea. Let the good times roll. What better player to add to your team if you're needing to build to get past the Lakers. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.
Would that get him? Hell, half of the GMs in the NBA would be laughing at whoever gives him that deal. He's a $5-6 million/4 year guy, tops.
If Portland's interested, they'll have to overpay. LA would re-sign him in a heart beat if the contract he was willing to take began at the mid-level. Posey got a deal of the mid-level variety and Ariza significantly better and hasn't nearly hit his ceiling yet. $7M starting seems to be more within reason.

Really? I would have to guess that several of his prime time steals in the playoffs were worth that much alone.
Really people, look at what Ariza is asked to do. It's pretty minimal. He guards the opposing team's SF (does he even guard SGs? I don't think so - they put Kobe on Roy), he shoots open threes, and he's active on D. He's a role player. A very good role player, but there's a reason he bounced around. He's not a threat off the dribble, he can't create his own shot, and he's pretty slight. He's perfect for LA, and THEY need him, but that doesn't mean he'd be great anywhere else. Matt Barnes isn't far off from Trevor Ariza.
Like I said, someone will overpay for him because he had some moments in the playoffs. I just hope it isn't the Blazers, for reasons I've listed in this and the other Ariza thread. His stats in the Finals were fairly miserable, and his career PER is actually less than that of Travis Outlaw. He is a very limited player who found a system that needed his skills.
Only in the 4th quarter. He defended him the first 3 quarters.
We want very good role players.
All the more reason to get him. They are easily our #1 threat, and losing him would really hurt him
Matt Barnes is as far off from Trevor Ariza and Trevor Ariza is from Teyshaun Prince, IMO
