It ain't my money. if Paul and Neil wanna do it, I'm on board.

that's just a lot of luxury tax

I think Paul Allen would go over, but not by a whole lot.

This is getting interesting if the rumors for Monroe are true

I've been thinking about it, and I think any trade for Monroe would have to include Robinson. It's the only way we could keep Monroe AND Lopez happy.

There are 96 combined minutes between the PF and C positions. Rolo averaged around 31 mpg last season. Monroe averaged 32. LMA averaged 36. That's roughly 99 minutes total.

If Rolo averaged 30, Monroe averaged 32, and LA averaged 34 mpg, that would put us at 96. I think all three could be happy with that.

Yeah TRob is a fan favorite of mine too but at some point you have to cash in the young potential for established starters. With the three of those there is no room for TRob even if he is playing exceptional. Chemistry is important so a roster needs to be built so there aren't hard feelings for the guys out of the rotation.

lets not forget about lopez injury past. not trying to jinx him or anything but if he or lma ever went down monroe could step in and we wouldnt miss too much of a beat (maybe more so if aldridge was hurt).

Yeah that would be a great bonus. When LaMarcus went out for that stretch last year it was not pretty. We can't count on Lopez to give us 82 games. With Monroe we could even give a guy a night off Spurs style for maintenance if need be.

I think that's too much for him.

Yes. We can't give up a starter for Monroe. We would also be paying Monroe a max contract, his value above a max contract is not equal to one of our starters.

Lillards extension won't kick in for two years. Monroe's max contract is much smaller as he's coming off a rookie deal. The salary cap is expected to go way up when the new TV contract revenue kicks in. We might have to pay a bit of luxury tax but it wouldn't be anything crazy in my opinion. With that new TV deal coming maybe Neil is looking at it as locking in an expense before the market goes way up.

Insane timing also, as someone recently tweeted that its about WHEN you go into the luxury tax... about spending the money at the right time, not when you're on the brink, but when you're going to actually CHALLENGE for titles.

This move would put us as a legit OKC/Spurs contender.

Not much about Monroe since the clock hit midnight.

Probably because he's restricted and more in the second-tier talent-wise. He's a big name, but with those two marks, he probably has to be a sign-and-trade. That slows the urgency.

Or it could be we're only 90 minutes deep...

Keep in mind that Aldridge improved his scoring by 2 points and his rebounding by two rebounds playing alongside Lopez last season. I don't think we should mess with that. I'm fine with getting Monroe but not at the expense of Lopez.

Olshey Rocks! I think the trading a starter idea is a smokescreen. We knew Earl Watson was leaving and Dorell Wright didn't even get an exit interview. Hawes or Monroe are going to be targeted to fill Wright's position for bench scoring. Wright, Claver, Crabbe and/or Leonard, Freeland will be expendable. CJ, TRob and Barton will stick here I think

I'd be hardpressed to give up Batum... but DAMN I love me some Monroe... Not for Lopez, though.

The Atlanta Hawks contacted Greg Monroe tonight, according to source close to the situation. ATL's interest in Monroe is very real.

I don't understand Atlanta wanting Monroe.

Man, I swear, somebody dropping a rumor like this in here get's more excitement than a bunch of teenagers discovering the porn channel while the parents are out of the hotel room.

Yeah I don't get the people who want to trade Lopez and Wes or trade Batum.... our starting 5 was elite last year and hung with the best contending teams. We just need a couple good bench options, we don't need to mess with any of our starters.

I don't get the people that thinks you can acquire something for nothing why Detroit would be hot for such an idea (Not saying you do). To get something, you have to give something up. He's 15 and 10 guy. Defense or no defense.

Well they are reportedly fine with letting him walk. So if they get anything it's on the house, so to speak.

If RFA Greg Monroe gets max offer, Pistons will have a tough call to make. Sign-and-trade a "high possibility" in that case, source says.
