Former Zag star Jeremy Pargo has been lighting it up for Maccabi Tel-Aviv and NBA teams are taking notice. He has always had above average NBA level athleticism. In fact, I'd put him on par with Westbrook and Rose in explosive athleticism. The questions have always been about his playmaking abilities and jumper, which he's improved. Defensively, he's awesome.

Portland and NOH Scouting Jeremy Pargo - May 8, 2011 (by David Pick, Barcelona)

Two of Europe's most prestigious basketball organizations, Maccabi Tel-Aviv & Panathinsikos, will take the parquet floor at the Palau Sant Jordi arena, Barcelona, Spain, for the clash of the titans and the battle of David versus Goliath, in the Euroleagues final game.

The finals will also contain a classic battle between two of the very best point guards to play this season in the Euroleague, Dimitris Diamantidis and Jeremy Pargo . Who will shine and who will excel is yet to be determined, however, Eurobasket.com was informed that several NBA team scouts and representatives will follow Pargo during the final game.

Amongst the different NBA teams who are scouting the young Chicago native, are the Portland Trail Blazers and the New Orleans Hornets.

Pargo, a European Superstar, is ranked high up the list on most of the scouting reports as he enjoys a superb Euroleague Rookie season, averaging 13 ppg, 3.9 rpg, and 3.5 apg. In the Semi Finals against Real Madrid, Pargo met his yearly number scoring 13 points, but has improved his assists average, passing out a total of 7 to his teammates.

'Eurobasket.com' spoke with Pargo's representatives, who have made it clear that the human highlight real is determined to follow his quest and make it to the NBA. Many scouts and sports analysts already believe that the point guard has proven himself thus far worthy to play with the big boys, and if he does put on yet another expected show this afternoon, Europe might have to say its last goodbyes to Jeremy Pargo.

Here's a little sample of his athletic abilities:

one of the knocks on Pargo has been his outside shooting, he is shooting the 3ball this yr in Europe at 36.3% - that's pretty solid, he's pretty quick and has a nice frame, could be worth a shot, his 67% FT% is weak

Champiionship is right around the corner. Meanwhile the L*kers will be going after Paul, Howard and Gay.

Why are you including Gay in your whining list?

Also, while everyone in the media seems to be convinced that they'll get Howard, Orlando holds the cards in this one. Yes, he can just bolt, but if he bolts he can't go to the Lakers unless he signs the min.

The Lakers area currently over the cap and will continue to be over the cap until 2014. So they can't just waive players like they did to get Shaq, and it's unlikely they'll be able to trade players for cap space either. They have 46+ million tied up in 2 players (Gasol and Kobe), and another 27 million tied up in Artest, Walton and Blake. And of those 3, Blake is probably the only one who might be able to be traded. And as others have said, Gasol for Howard is not a good trade for the Magic (nor is, imho Bynum for Howard). The Lakers are also not the owners of good draft picks or young talent (ie, Portland could offer Matthews, Batum, Wallace and Oden as young talent. Yes, I know that wouldnt get Howard in Portland and yes I know Oden is more injured than Bynum. My point is that Portland has 3 young talents plus a solid player they could offer. Hell, replace Wallace and Oden with LaMarcus and that'd be a better trade then what the Lakers could offer.).

Orlando can just tell the rest of the league to impress them with trade offers, and get significantly better trade offers than what the Lakers can "offer". And while they don't want to lose him to FA, if he wants to get his money he'll agree to a sign and trade and they'll be able to get a decent return, better then the crap LA could offer.

btw, looking at the top 15 players salary wise, it's sad to notice that so few of them are worth anything.

That's a stellar starting five right there....

Arenas
Redd
Carter
Kirilenko
Ming

with Rashard Lewis coming off the bench for the most overpaid players in the game. Yay!

Nothing wrong with scouting! And Pargo seems to have become a better PG in Europe: he was already very quick and a solid defender. Of course, cool spin move aside, he was outclassed by the best PG in Europe: Diamantidis. But Diamantidis is over 30 and has just been signed to a 3 year contract, so there's no chance of getting him.

And Pargo isn't really the PG of that Maccabi team - that would be Doron Perkins, who went down with an injury before the finals. And it looks like "jack of all trades" Chuck Eidson actually gets more assists.

I wonder what Patty Mills would look like on a Euro team.

(Another American PG looking good on a solid Euro team is Victor Claver's teammate (and Ex-Blazer) Omar Cook.)

Your such a fool. Is Pargo a star? No.

Pargo would be an upgrade over Mills and Johnson though.

So at least Portland is pursuing a guy on the level of one of the Lakers' targets!

The point guard situation is going to be desperate enough in another year that I'll actually be excited if we get this guy ... When the wheels finally fall off on Miller or if he's let go post lockout we're going to be the Minnesota Vikings (post Favre) of the NBA desperately grasping at anything remotely resembling a point. The only viable alternatives I see are trying to trade up in what is looking like a terrible draft with a dearth of point guards or filling in with over-the-hill stopgaps. That is unless anybody wants to watch the Armon and Patty show *shudders*

Pargo just signed a multiyear deal with the Grizzlies.

If we're looking at the rout why not take a look at Bo MCCalebb?

Pargo's found a home. Memphis just dealt Vazquez to make room for Pargo at the point.

15 and 7 for Pargo last night.

I wish we would of offered him. He's better than our other options at backup point.
