5 Losers In the 2015-2016 NBA Schedule

5 thru 4 are here - http://network.yardbarker.com/nba/article_external/5_losers_in_the_2015_2016_nba_schedule/19438333

1 – PORTLAND TRAIL BLAZERS

The Portland basketball team will blaze a trail, all right… a trail of misery and exhaustion and dead late-season legs. The Trail Blazers got hammered by this schedule, and what’s worse is that they did some of the hammering themselves.

All in all, the Blazers appear to be at fault for three of their four poorly handled weekend back-to-backs, meaning that the back-to-back originates at home and is under the team’s control (without apparent scheduling conflicts in its own arena).

That’s not all, though.

Beyond the Blazers’ control are two 4-in-5s, with both occurring after the All-Star break. No other NBA team bears that burden. The other four teams playing two 4-in-5s this season get to play the first 4-in-5 before the All-Star break.

Portland is also one of only two teams (New Orleans is the other) which must play a 4-in-5 entirely within the month of April.

The overall back-to-back count matches Philadelphia’s 19, so with all the other black marks on the schedule, the Blazers are clearly first… in the worst kind of way.

If the team had control over some of those scheduling issues and didn't take corrective action, then all I can say is "god bless you Neil Olshey!" This might account for 3, 4, or even 5 more losses this season, which could be just the kind of margin needed to move from an 8th spot in the lottery all the way up to 5th or 4th.

I am confused on what the Blazers could have done with those 3 back to back weekends. Are they saying they could have moved the home game to Friday if they wanted.........instead of Saturday? Moved the game up to Saturday afternoon instead of Saturday night?

What are the options?

Just wonder why the team didn't fight the scheduling of so many back to backs late in the season? Schedules like that can kill player moral and leave players vulnerable to injury. Of course, if you are indifferent to winning games?

I think we should definitely look at resting Damon for some of those games. Particularly if we're only mid-lottery.
We should rest Damon for all of the games. He hasn't been a Blazer since what, 2005?

We replaced him with Juan Dixon. And we still came out ahead in the deal.

It's Damian folks, not Damon..Damon is mighty mouse

This season is about winning some games we should lose and losing many games we should not win. #lottery

I think they could have chosen to have one or all of them be away-home instead of home-away...

Because spanning calendar months is so much less exhausting?
I think the point is that the regular season ends in April, so they have a 4-in-5 later in their schedule (when teams are the most tired, most beaten up) than everyone else.

I think the days of 5 starters playing huge minutes ends this season. We'll have fresher legs on the court throughout the season and maybe set a record for the amount of different rosters we try out. Damian is the exception..he'll play a ton of minutes
