Whichever team we face in the playoffs (Clippers/Rockets) are in no way locks for us to get "swept" or to lose. Both those teams have just as large holes in their rosters as we do in ours and there is no sub statue for playoff experience. Whatever happens in the future the first stepping stone to figuring out how to win in the playoffs is to lose in them, sure a lotto pick would be great but that is just pushing our inevitable loss from the playoffs and then getting a good idea of what the team needs to do that much farther away.
Also as a fan I cannot stand rooting to lose games and miss the playoffs on the VERY SLIM chances that lottery pick we get is an amazing player, which if it isn't top 5 the likelyhood isn't very good that they will be a starter let alone a franchise player. Shit look at the last two drafts, how many Starter quality players were drafted in the lottery the last two years, not many.
