The Portland Trail Blazers have launched a campaign promoting forward Toumani Camara for NBA defensive player of the year. The franchise sent out locked plastic cases to NBA awards voters and national media members that can only be opened with a combination, which is “033.” Camara's jersey number is 33
Given that a player has to appear in at least 65 games to be eligible, Caruso's defensive excellence is irrelevant. AD, Wemby, and Jrue are all out for the same reason. Of last year's 10, only 4 are eligible to make this year's team.last year's teams:

Adebayo will return. Gobert is very likely returning, a 4-time DPOY is hard to keep off th 1st team. But AD has played 49 games and Wemby has played 46. And Herbert Jones only played 20 game...so he's out
Caruso has only played 52, but he's been excellent on defense. Jrue is Jrue. McDaniels has played every game and been really solid defensively. Suggs has only played 35 games. White has been solid
so, I'd think there are two spots open: one on 1st team; one on 2nd team. Considering the hype, I'd think Amen moves onto the 1st team and Camara onto the 2nd team

This year's top 2 DPOY candidates are JJJ and Mobley, both new additions relative to last year. OKC's top 3 (SGA, JW, Dort) are all probably in as well. If Bam/Gobert/McDaniels/White all repeat, that leaves only one spot for Amen or Camara, and I'm guessing Amen gets it. Camara probably has to wait unless he can beat one of those 10.

Good point--I completely forgot about Daniels, who is an obvious inclusion.I dont think he gets all defense. Dyson Daniels, Draymond, JJJ, Mobley, Dort, Bam, Gobert, Amen, AD, Wemby...
Next year hopefully.
Where are Draymond & Daniels on your list? I'm with the crowd guessing Toumani makes 2nd team.Given that a player has to appear in at least 65 games to be eligible, Caruso's defensive excellence is irrelevant. Love Tou but how is it everyone thinks he is 2nd team all D? Ive not seen where is is ranked high except charges.
This was a month ago. He's probably still near the top in defensive stops.
As I mentioned earlier, I completely forgot about Daniels. I hadn't really thought about Draymond, but I guess he's still as good as ever? And I recently read someone saying Zubac is a DPOY possibility. So maybe it's more like:Where are Draymond & Daniels on your list? I'm with the crowd guessing Toumani makes 2nd team.
