Felton is not Chris Paul, but he's pretty damn good and hes better than andre miller.

I would love to hear some specific areas he is better, and I'll give you 3 point shooting.

Passing is horrible and lazy.
Floor vision is non existent.
ball handling is definitely suspect.
basketball IQ is very low.
Floor leadership has not shown itself.

For a PG, that is a pretty bad resume.

I cant believe some of the hating that is going on. I would expect it from some of the forum blazer bashers but not from guys like yuyuza. Come on, its really early, and yes Felton is not Chris Paul, but he's pretty damn good and hes better than andre miller. This team will be fine. They will never win a game when their starting sf has 0 points and two backcourt guys have 11 TO's

People are just frustrated.

I tend to agree with you that this is just one game and there's not a ton to be learned from it, other than this team's half-court offense is mostly balls right now -- if they aren't pushing tempo and going up and down the court they really struggle to create points. All in all, I still think the Blazers as currently constructed will be a pretty good team ... just not a great team (and Paul Allen's spending a lot of dough for "pretty good").

I'm getting pretty close to making a Felton for Udrih trade thread.

Holy shit, this guy just makes some of the most idiotic decisions. His stats deceive!
My thoughts as well. When I criticize him, I get stats thrown back at me. My eyes tell a different and disappointing story. Felton, Crawchuck and Wes really need to start making better decisions.

I thought he looked great in the Denver game ... I think you might be letting yourself get a little carried away. He's no all-star, but he is a decent point.

Seriously. That's about it, so far anyway. I don't think he's all that great at pushing tempo either, because he just dribbles the ball really fast up the floor, and then commits turnovers. I can't believe the number of times he missed players on the cuts backdoor or for lobs to LA on the P&R. If you all are looking for reasons why LAMonster has retracted to LASoftie, look no further than the lack of good P&R play from the guards. Felton throws bad bounce passes and Crawford chucks.

They really need someone else running the P&R, and that guy is Nic. He absolutely killed it in France and made his big men look like stars with his P&R play. Too bad Nate would never let him do it here.

This also isn't France, and he's not playing against Euro-trash

Ya, he's playing against defensive stalwarts in Mo Williams and Blake Griffin.

It would not hurt to try.

The bigger issue than Felton, is this team needs a smart leader on the floor, and that is what is missed with Miller. Nobody is taking on the leadership role who makes decisions. Thomas is the only one who seems to have what it takes.

Oh sure it could.

"Hey Raymond, I know it's only 4 games in, but we've decided to turn the point-guard position over to our young small forward. Hey thanks sport, I knew you'd understand."

Now if the team still looks this discombobulated 8 games from now and the wheels really appear to be coming off then sure, why not. But to make that kind of switch right now?

I'm not talking about making Nic a permanent Point Forward. I'm talking about letting him run a 2-3 plays per game with Aldridge on a trial basis. I really think his passing and play making ability is being totally disregarded when he just runs from corner to corner on the baseline.

Then I agree with you after all.

Having not watched Felton a whole lot prior to being with the Blazers...... I tend to agree. I am willing to give him 12-15 games to change my mind - but as it stands right now, I miss Andre.

On the possitive side, I am happy Rudy is gone. I just wish Portland would have used the pick they got from Dallas from Rudy for a player themselves.

Felton is a worse passer than Andre, that's for sure.

Dre is doing better in a reserve role than Felton is doing as a starter. Neither player is a long tern solution, but I'd rather have Dre right now.

I turned this game off at halftime, but see Felton had another 6 TO game. Blazers with another 20+ turnover game. And Gerald Wallace didn't do shit.

I had a great time despite the loss. It was fun hanging with magnifier, el presidente, and HCP. HCP is adorable. Great talking to Canzano and Medina. Missed Bayno. Marcus gave me a thumbs up before the game. And when I told Jamal Crawford we still had a chance to win in the 4th quarter, he turned and winked at me. Highlight of the game!

Mulling a trip to OKC..... (I'm addicted)

Felton averaged 3 turnovers a game last year, Andre averaged 2.5 for us. Real play makers in fast paced offenses, like Steve Nash, average 4. Just comes with the territory.

But of course 6 is bad. No need to run the guy out of town yet.

It's not just the turnovers, it's his decision making that is driving me crazy right now. Basically he is the Anti-CP3

That was a great look by Crawford, I can't believe LA wasn't ready for it.

He wasn't ready early in the game for a pass from Felton also. Which reminds me; i could be wrong but i don't think there has been one alley oop from Felton to Aldridge so far this season. At least with Miller, Aldridge knew he always needed to be ready.

Exactly. But, I knew any chance they could get the Felton haters of the summer would come out of the woodwork. You turn the ball over more than usual when Chris Paul's guarding a player. If I could think of a real scapegoat of the game it should've been Wallace, Matthews, or Camby. Felton was atleast taking it to the rack and creating things.

Felton throws lobs, I was watching him do it to Stoudemire last year all the time. Lobs are something that takes chemistry. I'm pretty sure it took us more than 5 games to see the lobs that Miller was throwing.

The Clips don't agree with you on this one.

Any pictures?

I have absolutely nothing to back this up; but i always assumed that it took awhile for the Miller to Aldridge lob to develop because it wasn't in Nate's game plan so it never really got practiced.

Yeah sly I took pictures. Just trying to figure out how to post them.
