Blazers Denied Pistons Permission to Interview Terry Stotts

The Detroit Pistons targeted Portland Trail Blazers head coach Terry Stotts for their head coaching vacancy but the Blazers did not give Detroit permission, according Mitch Lawrence of Sporting News.
Detroit fired former head coach Stan Van Gundy in early May, and the finalists for the opening, according to Adrian Wojnarowski, are Dwane Caseyand Ime Udoka after Michigan head coach John Beilein pulled out of the running:

Lawrence reported before last NBA Draft that the Blazers could move up into the lottery as Damian Lillard requested better supporting players.
Portland eventually moved up to No. 10 for Zach Collins, and Lillard later met with owner Paul Allen ahead of the NBA Trade Deadline to ask for the team’s direction.

Thanks for offering yet another excuse for the usual suspects to vent their anti Stotts venom. We’re gonna get umpteen pages of the same old crap......any way we can merge this with the last Dump Stotts thread and avoid further drama?

I wonder what Terry's thoughts were on that? If that was something he actually would have considered? Doesn't surprise me the Blazers said no. Paul Allen has invested in Terry and he is still under contract.

I think Terry like NO, and a few guys on the roster have a lot to prove this year. I think he seems like a good guy but he let Alvin Gentry try coach circles around him...

Does that mean if you didn’t correct it, we are not allowed to discuss?
Thanks for the permission.

New Out Of The Blue Unwritten forum rule:

#787 . The meeting cannot commence properly until the "discuss" post has been posted.

I'm just gonna make up new ones as I go along. Learn the new unwritten forum rules then post.

C'mon bro, this is news. It deserves it's own thread. This isn't a Dump Stotts thread. This is Summertime off-season news. It just happened.

Damn. This is pretty telling. :(

Where you at bro?

I think Terry should get one more year. :dunno:
I mean he’s going to whether I think he should or not. I do believe he’s a solid coach. I definitely have my complaints though, quite a few, but like I said acceptance. They could do a lot worse.

I think it's beyond obvious both he and Neil are getting another year at this point. I wouldn't be surprised if they got the year after that until Meyers and Turner expire.

To me, keeping Stotts and Olshey screams, "Meh."
I might be stupid but I think Stotts is a good coach, now he has flaws which I could list (but won’t to save us all same time), and I could definitely see letting him go to see what someone else could do with the team. I think the Blazers could do much worse though, and while personally I think I could make a solid case it’s time for a new coach, keeping him around for another year isn’t that bad either.

Way to sit on the fence there....

IMO, Stotts is slightly better than average. We'll need to move on from him to become a legitimate contender in the playoffs. Since most GMs like to pick their own coach - I'd rather that we replace NO right now & give Stotts one more year.

It’s not sitting on the fence, for one if I could fire Stotts probably would, but I can’t he’ll be back. Secondly, aI tend think the roster isn’t that good, can’t blame Stotts for that.
