Hello folks. I had to step away from the TV set for a few hours. No need for this to be a long thread. Would one person please just recap exactly what happened to the Blazers tonight? Thank you.

at first i was all..."ooh this is gonna be rad!"

then i was all..."huh?"

now im all..."blargh!"

i dont even care about all the 2nd round crap or else i would tell ya, sorry mang

Blazers make a trade with Dallas, sending Rudy for the #26 pick. They also sent the rights to Koponen to Dallas.

Blazers make a trade with Denver, sending Andre Miller and the #26 pick for Raymond Felton. They also may have sent a future second round pick.

Blazers select Nolan Smith with the #21 pick.

Blazers select John Diebler with the #51 pick.

I think that's it. I'm not sure about a couple of the details in the first two transactions.

In short:

The Blazer fanbase got a slice of the 'ol dick pie.

:-/

Thanks Ed O. I'm excited about these deals. I couldnt stand watching Rudy another second. Raymond Felton is a top 10 PG in this league and has upside.

Kingspeed, what the hell kind of fan had to step away from the TV for a few hours on draft night!!!???

Bascially we traded who most of us wanted to trade, for another PG. The problem was it was not the PG we all wanted. We wanted a team to take our old PG and a couple Euros for someone really really good. Didn't happen, so we are all pissed.

Oh and instead of drafting a PF who will never ever start for an NBA team, we drafted a PG who will never ever start for a NBA team. So we are pissed about that too.

Ed, Ed, Ed. How could you forget about drafting Tan Guy at #57?

I think that Dallas drafted the guy playing in Qatar for Minnesota. Am I wrong?

Not necessarily wrong. The blazers site currently says they are in discussions to trade the rights to Ngombo.

But for now, he's all ours.

I want to cherish him while I can.

Can we all argue over how to pronounce "Qatar"?

I'll start: it's like a cross between "gutter" and "cutter".

Personally, I prefer Kuh'-tar.

I favor "cut-tar." The "tar" is like from "guitar."

greetings from the only cafe in Carlux France :needcoffeee:

Can't say these deals excite me on first look this morning but I appreciate the updates guys. The one thing that Ray gives Portland that they really lacked is someone who can go off the dribble at the end of the clock/game

Summary: We got younger, but worse at PG and still have no decent back-up power forward, we wiffed on both counts. We would have been better off to just keep Milller an take Faried at 21. Instead, we made ourselves worse and Denver better. Lose:lose. But we seem determined to corner the market on combo guards in the desperate hope that one of them many eventually become a serviceable back-up PG.

Unless our inexperienced interim GM can pull off a huge blockbuster trade (not holding my breath) the Blazers are worse tonight than they were this morning and will win fewer games for the third straight season - unless Greg Oden has a miraculously healthy season. Boy, it sure would have been nice to see Miller and Oden play together. Miller's alley-oop lobs got something like 150 easy baskets for LaMarcus Aldridge this year. Just imagine how many easy baskets he could have created for Greg Oden.

I was an Andre Miller fan too. I think he was our best player beginning at Roy's demise (a month before the end of 2009-10). The only exception was the one all-too brief month when he helped make Aldridge hot last Winter. So Miller was our best player for exactly half of the 2 seasons he was here.

But--

Felton is 8 1/4 years younger than Miller. My sports calculator says that equals 41.25 years in sports time. If we don't like Felton, we get another chance to fill his spot by trading him in a couple of years, or 4, or 6 years. We couldn't do that with Miller.

So, we get more years of worse PG play from Felton. Color me unimpressed.

You use crayons a lot where you are?

This sucks. I'm gonna be hated in here for liking a player on my own team! No matter how well Felton plays, I'll be bashed for liking him. Ugh.

Actually, Camby was responsible for a sizable amount of Aldridge's alley oop dunks.

I guess I'm in the minority too. I've always kind of like Felton's game. In fact, several people on here have to whether they want to admit it, or not. I've seen quite a few threads about trading for him.

Also, I seem to remember Felton from highlights throwing lobs to Gerald Wallace in Charlotte. It's not like he's Steve Blake.

My initial reaction to draft night was meh and maybe I should trust that and not let the doom and gloom here affect me too much. I'm very sad to see Miller go and definitely disappointed about not getting Faried, but I had pretty low expectations anyway (the Jameer trade did not seem to make any sense to me from Orlando's side).

I'm even more in the minority, because not only do I like Felton, but I'm also pretty sure that Smith is going to be our primary backup PG from day 1 and do a decent job in that role, especially on the defensive end. Overall, I think we got better at the PG spot, and I'm happy about that.

I like both Felton and Smith, but as for next year, Felton is no better than Miller. Lateral move for next year, and we gave up a ton

Aren't you one of the ones who always says we over value our own players? Did we really give up a ton? Three guys we often spoke about trading.
It does seem like a lot, but personally I didn't think either of those three would be on our team next year. So I guess that's why it did not upset me like it did others.

True we did not screw another team like we all wanted to, but didn't we all kind of expect that Felton was the best we could get from another team? No one was going to give us their "best" PG. I think Felton is better than Flynn or Ridnour or any other options out there. But I can see why people see it as a lateral move. I think we got better though. We had to get a better scorer at the point IMO. I think we did.
