Blazers hire Director of Basketball Strategy

He was probably asked by Jody to hire someone to help with GM duties as he actually The President of Basketball Operations. Please be reminded that the Blazers are a junior training ground for The Vulcan Empire.

Your theory just doesn’t add up. Jody has been hands off since she’s been in charge. If the matter was so serious that the Vulcans had to get involved they wouldn’t have hired someone with literally zero experience in the league (I doubt they even know who she is.) Or they would’ve just fired Olshey. It’s just not that deep imo.

Neither one of us know what's really going on but its fun to play and the Vulcans are in the mix, imo.

I think everyone is overthinking this hire. The role probably isnt even finished being defined. Teams are being encouraged to hire some more non-white men. fact. I am sure she is very smart and knows basketball and the team wants to expand its scope to women, minorities, etc., a good thing. She will work in bball ops and probably take on assignments and projects as given by Olshey. Not a replacement for him.

Maybe the league now mandates that each team have a woman in management. With no NBA experience, what does she offer that hundreds of men lack. Clue: The first tweet comment says that she gives a good interview. A good talker. I'd have never guessed.

You said the same as I did. Silver probably encourages such marketing ploys.

We don't know that at all.

We know nothing of how Blazer basketball operations actually work, save that twice a year Olshey gives us his one-sided, self-serving spin in public.

I still would like to know what her job duties are?
Not being confrontational at all, but I must say that having seen so many other posters say this very thing about Hammon during the coaching search (and your repeated frustrated responses to them), it cracked me up to click on page 2 of this thread and the first thing I see be this post from you.

color me as conspiracy theorist, but i don't think she actually works for the blazers at the moment.

"director of basketball strategy" was a vague title to begin with

Btw she was in the team photo they did after the season ended. I don’t care enough to look it up, but she was there 100%.

you're right, she was right next to CJ.

never mind. Still unclear what she does, however. Seems like an awfully big title for someone who is so behind the scenes.

So she's Canzano repellent....promoted from within...she's Marsha Warfield the baliff from Night Court! (One of my favorite comedians ever)

I don't expect Blazers board to know job description of other teams' employees. I thought someone might know the job description of a Blazers employee, even one who lacks a penis.

I believe she is here to develop and execute a game plan to increase revenue, and to assess Portlands troubles as a small market team and devise solutions for how to better compete with larger markets.

Perhaps she should consult with Bob Whitsett who knew how to put together a championship contender in a small market. You got to get creative, swing for the fences, gamble..

Not sit on your hands and take a conservative approach while your superstar PG gets older and older.

Unfair. Whirs it had an open checkbook and a different salary cap

Thank you.

Whitsitt fucking gambled though. Olshey does not
He did some good things but he blew it on a few. Trade ONeal and Kleine for Davis, then the next day traded for a fat, expensive druggy Kemp. Then watch his team fall into the "jailblazer mode".
