Not sure if anyone else follows the Blazers on IG, but the amount of racism in the comments for the Blazers wishing a happy Ramadan is kind of next level. Wow. Seems like a good majority is coming from Deni fans.

Deni has seemed different lately. His smile hasn’t been there as much lately and that carried into All-Star weekend. My hope is that it’s due to his back. My fear is that it’s something else.

Either way, I feel for him.
I think the same. I feel he is hurt inside about all of this. His demeanor has changed....and with it I fear...a share of his drive.

I can tell he's insecure. He should be. It doesn't take a lot to distance yourself from a genocidal maniac and he hasn't done it yet.

The amount of racism hurled at his teammates for being Muslim is shocking, but then you think about it and then you realize, not really. This is how many from that area of the world are taught to think about and treat Muslims. Pretty disgusting stuff.

This is what makes Dame so great. There is no moral ambiguity. Deni will never touch Dame as the ambassador to the Blazers if he's so afraid to draw a line.

It's interesting to note that Deni's dad is Muslim and his mom is Jewish (and yes I know that someone is considered Jewish if their mother is Jewish).

It's also interesting how, as one of my professors used to say, flat brained people are.

It was a question responding to this statement

"The amount of racism hurled at his teammates for being Muslim"

which teammates?
It doesn't say teammates. It was an amount of racism hurled at a Ramadan post on the teams IG account from Islamophobes.

I believe I saw comments aimed at Jerami Grant, Rupert and a couple others. Reath may have been Muslim as well. You can go on their account and read for yourself.

Reading is hard
Thinking is so much harder. Social media is full of vile rascists and xenophobs who think everything and everyone (especially public figures) should hear their views. This isn't a big secret. That some Blazer players might have had this stuff directed their way regardless of thier religion (I'm not aware of any PTB player being very public about religious beliefs) shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone including the players... this is a way those types amplify thier views. It's currently the Muslim holidays of Ramadan and the Blazers IG account wished blanket well wishes to those who are observing. With 1/4 of the world's population identifying as Muslim, this undoubtably includes many of their fans.

STOMP

wait....I'm late to this party and pretty confused, as normal....but...apparently....anonymous Muslim idiots are attacking Deni for being Jewish while anonymous Jewish idiots are attacking the Blazers for an IG post; also, some of Deni's teammates may or may not be Muslim. All this is causing Deni to not be his normal positive self; but it could be his back...do I have that right?

I try not to read the comment sections, assuming it will just piss me off, but sometimes I can't help myself.
For all the good things that the internet provides, there are just too many ignorant people in this country/world for them all to have access. But the genie is out of the bottle.
