Blazers interested in Eddy Curry?

I just threw up a bit in my mouth....

Honestly don't care either way. If we sign him he will just take up the spot on the bench that we saved for our other out of shape big man who couldn't play.

Don't see the point at all of taking even a single minute away from hickson, Freeland and Leonard at the C position, so no thanks.

Chris Haynes said:
To say Curry hasn't lived up to his potential is an overstatement.
I think he meant 'understatement'? Don't want him: Play the rooks.

he was drafted in 2001, not 2004.

I thought about correcting him on his site, but then he might fix his goofs. And where's the fun in that? :)

The word overweight was probably in his head as he wrote it, hence the mix up.

I hear he's lost 50 pounds and is dunking like he used to!

He doesn't really fill a need. He'll take away time from the younger guys. He doesn't really fill a character role either where he can mentor the youngins.

Why are we interested?

I can see where a "Bigger" big man could fill a need on this roster. I am just not sure he is the right guy. Regardless a better back up center is not going to elevate this team to a playoff spot. So I would pass on Eddie

Evidently, Oliver Miller wasn't available...

Yeah, just what we need; a fat ass bust that is a total head case.

And, he's not even white. So, what's the point?

Why curry and not oden?

Seriously.

+1

Seriously, I think it's because Curry is healthy and "in shape", while Oden's still recovering from MF #3.

Curry was healthy and "in shape" last season and was only able to get 83 minutes on a team that desperately needed a guy to play C. It's been 4 years since he played more than 14 games in a season. Or a PER above 4.

Oden still is 7 years younger.

If it's about taking a flyer, Oden seems like a more appropriate risk.

If it's about getting a player who's actually worth playing, then guys like Chris Johnson are cheap enough and better players.

Today both guys are fodder and a total waste of time.

No freak'n way. Give the minutes to the young guys.

Go Blazers

I agree.

Freeland and Leonard should get the bulk of those minutes.

I wonder what they consider interest. Maybe we simply sent a scout to watch him workout. The article mentions many other teams are interested also. So my guess is that he held or is going to hold a private workout and we are one of several teams that attended or plan to attend. I dont think this means we are in serious talks about signing him.

Yeah, his agent probably contacted every NBA team that doesn't have a decent starting center and told them Eddy is available, cheap and in shape (but, round is a shape!). Since the Blazers don't have an incumbent starting center, they were probably high on his list.

I think the story is crap. We'll see if we ever see Eddy Curry here.
