So far this preseason: not impressed with Plumlee.

Leonard was clearly the best player on the Blazers tonight. He was also the best player on the floor. His early threes set the tempo for the game and pretty much changed the entire Jazz defense.
I saw the highlight of Harkless hitting the three. I know his percentages were not great last year, but his form sure was encouraging. (effortless) Didn't they say he was working hard all summer on improving his outside shot? Wouldn't that be a gigantic bonus if he greatly improved his 3 pt shooting.
Just finished watching the game. I really wish we could transfer Kaman's low post game into Meyers.

All he needs are two moves. One go-to, and a counter. Add that to his face up game, FT% and outside shot, and you've got a consistent 15-20ppg scorer.Just finished watching the game. I really wish we could transfer Kaman's low post game into Meyers.

Okur? That bounce pass Meyers threw sure looked like another tall white center who shot threes a lot...
Okur?
He's only OK at PG. 5 assists/5 turnovers.
I'm no fan of Frazier or Pressey.
That's who we need to replace.
I agree we will see a lot of opponents go small against us when Meyers is hitting threes. Meyers is so slow footed defensively it'll cause huge mismatches and problems for us on that end.
Yes Meyers will have a rebounding advantage but I don't think that'll be enough to keep him on the court.
We'll take Rose off the Bulls' hands when they're sick of his shit.

Not sure I would even say cheapshot....What was CJ's cheapshot? any video on that?
Interesting. I wonder why he grabbed Hayward's neck/shoulder on that foul. Not sure I would even say cheapshot....

Natural reaction might be to actually try to stop him from hitting the court. Which kind of backfired.Interesting. I wonder why he grabbed Hayward's neck/shoulder on that foul.
I kind of disagree on this one. Teams don't go small to get faster. They generally go small to spread the floor for three point attempts.
Meyers isn't fast enough to block many 3 attempts, but he's fast and long enough to distract a little and reduce percentages on three pointers. Teams will hit a higher percentage against him than they would a quicker 6'8 power forward, but will it offset everything they give up in rebounding and interior size against Leonard (who is also hitting threes at a mouth-watering percentage)? If Meyers weren't making up a lot of the threes he'll cost the team on the other end of the court it'd be a different story.
But I think for much of his time here it will be the other teams with the matchup problem, not us.
Well agree to disagree then. I've noticed Meyers struggling defensively against smaller players more than he had against bigs. This goes back to the end of last season; opponents defend him better with smaller players that can close out his shots. Bigs instinctively don't close out on threes but wings do. Playing perimeter defense is not a strength of Meyers on the other end. I expect we will see a lot of the situations during the season so it's something to keep an eye on.
I can't really remember Meyers ever punishing a team for putting a small guy on him. It should be an automatic post up opportunity but he just has pretty much no reliable post skills.
