Blazers @ Jazz 2/3/10 GAME THREAD (1 Viewer)

The guy is a D-League call up that doesn't play much, its his chance to do something after sitting on the bench all night. It's not like he's a starter, kids get excited under the lights.

:sigh:

You missed what I was doing there.

Nic says Ronnie Brewer deliberately tried to run into his shoulder: http://blog.oregonlive.com/behindblazersbeat/2010/02/trail_blazers_118_jazz_105_nic.html

Batum tweaked his shoulder in the second quarter while playing defense on Ronnie Brewer and his shoulder was heavily bandaged after the game. Brewer made a sudden cut while he was running through the Jazz’ constantly-moving offense and ran directly into Batum’s shoulder.

With 8:38 left in the first half, Batum pulled himself from the game and walked directly toward the Blazers’ locker room to get evaluated by assistant athletic trainer Geoff Clark. He missed the rest of the first half but played eight minutes, 29 seconds after halftime, finishing with eight points.

After the game, Batum called his injury “no big deal,” and said he intended to play Thursday night against the San Antonio Spurs at the Rose Garden But Batum was annoyed at Brewer, saying the Jazz’ starting shooting guard went at his shoulder intentionally.

“I know he did it on purpose because he tries to get me every time,” Batum said. “Last game, he did the same.”
I wouldn't put this sort of thing past a Utah Jazz team, but that's quite the accusation.

Well, Brewer is officially a dick.

With this loss, we are hanging by a thread. 8th place in the West, with more tough games ahead versus Spurs, Lakers, Thunder and Suns. We're only a game and a half above the Rockets- they have the same # of losses. I hope Roy comes back soon and at 100%.

If you watch Utah's offense all the time, they constantly are screening, banging, and just trying to get to their spots on the floor. This is the kind of stuff that Pussy-fies the NBA. Basketball is a contact sport, that's why you shouldn't play if you are still hurt somewhat. Now what Ariza did last year, that was intentional. Brewer going through the offense, cutting hard can't be pointed at as a bad thing. The guy makes a living cutting hard, and getting to the hoop, of course he's going to run into his guy occasionally.

The reason Utah felt they could bang us around is we have no one to make them pay. May I suggest that Batum save the tape of this game next year and offer to buy Joel and Greg dinner to do the same. For every Karl Malone you need a Brian Grant.

Had to work, so I couldn't watch the game.

Has anyone got any footage of this?

erm ... his shot came in the final 20 seconds of the game during garbage time ... it wasn't anything I would call highlight worthy; in fact I don't exactly really remember how he scored (a short jumper from the left elbow IIRC?)

Yep, but he banked it in. Not sure if he called it though.
