Some people literally bet money against the blazers and if they win money it’s a consolation. I don’t make bets but if I think the team is going to probably lose and we win, that’s awesome. But there is a small consolation in being right. In this case if someone is going to say I’m not supporting the team because I think we are probably going to lose our next three games, I guess it’s a small consolation that my assessment was right.

there's a strong narrative advanced by homers, and the fans of Blazer status-quo and Stotts, that personnel is the biggest factor in determining a team's defensive ability, not coaching. The Knicks' teams from last year to this year kick the living shit out of that narrative

There's some really obvious reasons.

Number one - Rodney Hood.

Number two - one active center on the roster.

Wolves ranked 21st in defense have a league worst 7 wins.....Blazers however managed 22 wins and 5th in the west with a worse defensive ranking 35 games in.....hmmmmm....worst team in the league is defensively ahead of 9 NBA teams....says something...

I went with the two that could most easily be remedied. Dame and Melo aren't going anywhere. And apparently neither is Stotts.

I think Stotts should go after this season. Yeah he doesn't have much to work with on defense but he can't put together something that at least makes us mediocre on D. I don't think we need a guy like Tom Thibodeau but someone that at least has some creative ideas. Any offensive wizardry or game management that he gives to the team should be fine carried over in Dame's hands. As long as you get a coach that's willing to let Dame do his thing and not try to rein him in.
